The drama continues. The day after trading Trent Richardson and naming third-stringer Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Vikings, Browns coach Rob Chudzinksi danced around the whether or not second year quarterback Brandon Weeden will be resume the starters role when he returns from his sprained thumb, Mary Kay Cabot reports. Conventional wisdom says a player shouldn’t lose his job to injury, but the conventional wisdom may not take into account Brandon Weeden’s poor play. Weeden has looked terrible in two games this season, throwing for 516 yards (47-86, 54% passing) with one touchdown and three interceptions. Weeden has also been sacked eleven times and the Browns have scored just 16 points in two games. Weeden, 29, injured his thumb late in Sunday’s 14-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Ruled a sprain, Weeden has seen a hand specialist but it seems his injured thumb won’t require surgery. Hoyer, 27, last started on December 30 of 2012, then a member of the Arizona Cardinals, in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He was 19-of-34 for 225 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
