The Browns placed running back Montario Hardesty (knee) on injured reserve for the season for the second time in four years and waived fullback Owen Marecic today in the first roster trim to 75 players. The Browns were also awarded outside linebacker Paul Hazel from Jacksonville and punter Colton Schmidt from San Francisco. In addition they waived linebacker Kendrick Adams offensive lineman Dominic Alford wide receiver Dominique Croom defensive lineman Nicolas Jean-Baptiste Marecic offensive lineman Ryan Miller and tight end Travis Tannahill. Undrafted rookie free agent offensive lineman Chris Faulk (knee) was placed on reserve/non-football injury for the season. Hardesty who struggled with a hamstring tendon issue most of camp underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Aug. 15. He also spent all of his rookie season in 2010 on IR after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. The Browns love Hardesty's explosive running ability but can't keep him on the field. In 2011 he missed almost half the season with a torn calf muscle. Last year when finally healthy he flashes glimpses of what he could do with a 4.2-yard average on his 65 carries. Hardesty is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent after the year.
