Frostee Rucker may be switching teams, but he's not leaving the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns signed the free-agent defensive end to a contract, but did not disclose the terms. Rucker played his first five NFL seasons with the rival Cincinnati Bengals. "Frostee is a player that we targeted in free agency, and we couldn't be happier that he chose to become a member of the Cleveland Browns," Browns general manager Tom Heckert said in a release. "We really like the veteran presence that he will give our young defensive line. He started last year for one of the top defenses in the NFL, and we feel as though he can come in and have that same impact on our defense." Rucker, 28, had 44 tackles and four sacks in 16 games last season.

Holmgren on Browns’ offer to Rams: “I’m not sure any offer was going to be good enough”

Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert spoke with season ticket holders earlier today on a conference call (which is now available to listen to on the team’s website) about free agency and the upcoming draft. In that call, Holmgren addressed the Rams trade with Washington and why the Browns didn’t make the move. “What we offered for the pick was every bit the offer that was chosen...

Browns release veteran G Eric Steinbach

The Cleveland Browns have released guard Eric Steinbach, who missed last season following back surgery. Steinbach underwent an operation to fix a back disc in August and sat out his fifth season with Cleveland. He was scheduled to make $6 million in 2012. His release will give the Browns more room under the salary cap. They opened free agency about $17 million under the cap. The...

Browns sign two players

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns have re-signed offensive lineman Oniel Cousins and tight end Alex Smith. Cousins made one start at right tackle last season after the Browns were awarded him off waivers from Baltimore. He has made five career starts and played in 30 games. Cousins gives the Browns offensive line depth after the team released right tackle Tony Pashos, who recently...

Browns Offered ‘Every Bit’ for RG3

Browns team president Mike Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert met with season ticket holders via conference call on March 15 and covered a wide variety of topics.

Browns' fans feel a draft, and shiver

If there's one thing Browns' fans have learned during this free agency period, it's that you can't call GM Tom Heckert a liar. Heckert said last week that the franchise would not make a big splash in the market. The NFL's high-priced free agent bazaar opened on Tuesday at 4 p.m., and true to their word, the Browns weren't waiting to rush inside with checkbook...

Browns Need To Stay The Course….(And Tank 2012)

What I am going to say right now will not a popular sentiment at all in this town. But the reality of the situation is, I want what is best for the organization LONG TERM. So stay with me here. Between local sports talk radio, Twitter, newspapers, and blogs, all of the talk in Cleveland has centered around the Browns not doing anything in Free agency (other than the signing of ...

Hillis gone to Chiefs, good riddance

Hillis has run for greener pastures One year ago at this time, I would have said there was a .005% chance of me ever writing the headline (and certainly not in one year’s time), “Hillis gone to Chiefs, good riddance.”  Yet, here we are on the eve of March Madness, and that thought is the first and only thing that comes to mind upon reading Espn’s report that Hillis agreed...
