Bruce Carter just made his practice debut last week after finally recovering from a torn ACL, suffered in his final season at North Carolina. Carter has apparently been encouraged by what he’s seen since, as he now says he plans on being available for the Cowboys match-up with the Eagles on Sunday night.
"I'm very excited," Carter told reporters Tuesday, per the Dallas Morning News.
Drafted in the second round of last April’s draft, Carter may remind you a bit of Sean Lee, the team’s second round pick last year. Yes, he’s an inside linebacker, but also like Lee, the team believes he was a first round talent who fell into their laps as a result of the knee issues.
Whether he’s ready to play or not, head coach Jason Garrett made clear that the team wants to avoid rushing the rookie into his first taste of NFL action.
