CB Johnthan Banks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mississippi State’s Jonathan Banks was the winner of the 2012 Jim Thorpe Award and selected as a Walter Camp All-American. He is a tall, lean defensive back in the mold NFL team are looking for to guard the ever growing wide receivers. Has a similar build to Dominique Cromartie-Rodgers, however, may be better suited playing safety at the next level. The Positive: As like most big cornerbacks, Banks' strengths are his physical style of play and solid instincts. He can read and react jump a route and break up the play or even come up with a pick as a proven ball hawk. He will need to add weight to properly play bump and run coverage. Very good in run support and not afraid of contact. Adept at blitzing and has the ability to disengage off his blocker and set the edge in order to force the play inside. The Negative: There are some concerns about Banks and his ability to cover quick and agile receivers. He doesn’t have the smooth hips cornerbacks require to turn and run, but his size allows him to cover the tall rangy receivers like an Andre Johnson. Doesn’t have elite speed, another factor that may lead hi to the safety spot in the NFL. More Videostat Profiles
