The New Orleans Saints failed to take advantage of what seemed like a golden opportunity to increase their division lead last weekend. Following a week off, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are feeling all the more optimistic about making a run at them - especially with LeGarrette Blount expected to return. Hoping to regroup from one of the more stunning defeats of the NFL season, the Saints try to avenge last month's loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday at the Superdome in a matchup which has control of the NFC South at stake. Coming off a 62-7 rout of Indianapolis on Oct. 23, New Orleans (5-3) entered last Sunday as a huge favorite over previously winless St. Louis but emerged with a shocking 31-21 loss. The Saints were never in the game, trailing 24-0 well into the third quarter against a Rams team which hadn't scored more than 16 points in any previous week. "It kind of felt like a nightmare," left tackle Jermon Bushrod said. "We've got to refocus and put this...

Saints Nation: 2011 Midseason Review, Sproles/Graham are Offensive MVPs

We're now half way through the season, so below are the GPA's for each offensive player on the Saints. My Offensive MVP for the first half of the season came to a tie, so I'll be giving it to two players: Darren Sproles and Jimmy Graham. Sproles is second on the team in rushing (305 yards), first in yards per carry (6.8), leads the team in receptions (51) and has done...

Saints Nation: 2011 Midseason Review, Will Smith is Defensive MVP

Through 8 games, my Saints' defensive MVP is Will Smith. He was suspended for the first 2 games but has played well upon return. I have to say, the defensive grades overall are fairly low and poor across the board. Quite simple there hasn't been much good play to brag about. Smith is tied for the team lead with 4.5 sacks in 6 games played. Not bad. Martez Wilson technically...

Quit It and Quit It and QUIT IT!: A Late Tuesday Edition

I’m still pissed about the Saints’ ridiculous loss to the Rams on Sunday…and not just the fact that they loss but how they loss. Therefore, I’ve resurrected the “Hit It and Quit It franchise for a very special, unladylike remix. And away we gooo… Quit It! So when Drew Brees gets sacked 6 six times, is it safe to say the offensive line would have done better to skip...

October Recap: A Taste of Reality

Foster has been a freak in his first year with the Bucs and he's only going to get better.October MVP: Mason Foster It’s tough to find bright spots in Tampa’s October but if you look hard enough you’ll find Mason Foster, the rookie out of Washington. He’s quickly becoming a staple of this defense as he embodies it’s ‘Yungry’ attitude and it’s flashes of potential...

Saints can expect to see more of Blount than usual this week

BY ROY CUMMINGS The Tampa Tribune TAMPA – The New Orleans Saints may get an unusually heavy dose of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount when the two teams meet in their first-place showdown at the Superdome this week. Blount said Tuesday…

The New Orleans Saints are becoming inconsistent

The New Orleans Saints are becoming just as inconsistent of a team as the rest of their division, which includes the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After destroying what is left of the Indianapolis Colts without Peyton Manning, the Saints expected the same from the St. Louis Rams, but got head-butted out the stadium. They were completely dominated...

2011 Fantasy Football, Week 9 Tight End Rankings: Jimmy Graham Still Top Tight End

Jimmy Graham 1) JIMMY GRAHAM (TB)- Graham had a rough week last week dropping a TD pass and only netting four catches for a season low 39 yards. He is still the #1  TE in fantasy football by a wide margin and I expect the Saints to right the ship this week and put a thumping on Tampa Bay making Graham a solid play this week.  2) ANTONIO GATES (GB)- Gates had a TD called back...

REAR ENTRIES: Freeman Never Even Mentioned Once

INJURY UPDATE: After their week off, most Bucs are back at practice today. Gerald McCoy, Sammie Stroughter, Jeff Faine, Tanard Jackson and LeGarrette Blount are all practicing. The only one not practicing is Jeremy Zuttah, which is more of a loss these days than it used to be for some reason. Speaking of Blount, the Times confirms that he will be back into his starting position...

Freeman explains supposed spat with Winslow

BY ROY CUMMINGS The Tampa Tribune TAMPA – If you didn’t see it for yourself you have no doubt heard by now of the supposed spat that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman had with tight end Kellen Winslow on the sideline…
