Coach Schiano saw enough of troubled corner back Aqib Talib. The Buccaneers have announced today that they have traded Talib to the New England Patriots.  Here are the details from the Bucs official press release: “The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they traded CB Aqib Talib and a seventh-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft to the New England Patriots in exchange for their fourth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Buccaneers own eight selections in the 2013 draft – one each in rounds one, two, three, five, six and seven, and two in round four.” The Patriots ranked 28th against the pass and needed to find a way to boost their defensive secondary. For the Buccaneers, they get what they always preach about: Quality draft picks. The team had two seventh round draft picks before the trade. So now to look ahead. Given the Eric Wright situation and whether or not he will be suspended officially for Adderall use, the depth behind him brings lots of uncertainty. Rookie Leonard Johnson showed promise in his first game of extended play against the Vikings,  EJ Biggers has been scrutinized since his first days in pewter, Brandon McDonald has shown some inconsistencies, and Anthony Gaitor (who had a great training camp) is on injured reserve but eligible to return mid-month. Myron Lewis is another who has been unable to live up to high expectations due to injuries. Nonetheless, this is good for the Bucs to part ways with a cornerback who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. From incidents in practice with teammates to off-field issues, Talib was becoming a liability to the team. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
