The Bills have parted ways with another veteran, this time the axe has come down on aging cornerback and Buffalo mainstay Terrence McGee, according to buffalobills.com. McGee was a 4th round pick of Buffalo’s in 2003, making him one of the longest tenured members of the team along with kicker Rian Lindell and defensive end Chris Kelsay, who also arrived in 2003. In a statement released to the media today, General Manager Buddy Nix praised McGee for 10 years of loyalty to the team. “Terrence has been a contributor to the Bills organization for 10 years and we thank him for his efforts on the field and off,” Nix said.  “We wish him the best of luck in the future.” With 17 career interceptions, McGee is tied for 15th all time in franchise history. He also has a tie of the record for most return touchdowns in team history with seven (5 kickoff returns, one interception, one fumble recovery) and is tied with Nate Clements for the Bills record. He is also one of only 13 NFL players in history with five or more kick return touchdowns. He was the first player in NFL history to have a kick return touchdown (99 yards) and an interception return (46 yards) in the same game in a Christmas Eve game in Cincinatti in 2005. He went to the pro-bowl once as a kick return specialist in 2004, a year that he averaged over 23 yards per return and had three kickoff returns for touchdowns. McGee also struggled with injuries during his career, with a dramatic increase in down-time in his last three seasons with Buffalo. He only played in nine games in 2010, six games in 2011, and seven during the 2012 season. He was placed on injured reserve on November 6th. This move comes three days after the Bills released LB Nick Barnett and S George Wilson. A house cleaning seems to be well underway.
