Lions receiver Calvin Johnson was the recipient of a nasty hit from Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway in week four.  He hadn’t been lighting the world on first in the first three weeks of the season and despite being third in the NFL in receiving yards, he hasn’t been putting up Megatron-like numbers. He has openly battled bumps and bruises to his knees, and wrist and has sat out practices and team workouts.  Word also came out Thursday that Johnson is still suffering from nerve damage from that Greenway hit.  Calvin said that it’s had a lingering effect and has caused discomfort in gripping the football.  He also mentioned the word concussion.  If you remember, the Lions training staff ran very minimal concussion tests before letting Johnson return to the field. For the second time since week four, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has insisted that Calvin was not concussed.  It’s an interesting dynamic — Calvin saying he suffered a concussion and Schwartz touting the company line that ...

Lions Injury Report: Calvin Johnson Has Nerve Damage

Even an artificial life form made of non-human parts is still human.  Megatron, or Calvin Johnson if you prefer, said he suffered nerve damage when he took two big hits in the Detroit Lions' game against the Minnesota Vikings back in September.  In that game, Johnson also admitted to suffering a concussion that he played through. No touchdown passes from Matthew Stafford to Calvin Johnson, but a respectable, emerging run game? The secondary, widely considered the teams weak link, is depleted by injuries week after week, but the Lions still rank No. 7 in total defense...
