According to Yahoo! Sports, both Ndamukong Suh and Calvin Johnson restructured their contracts to help free up more money under the salary cap for the Detroit Lions. Suh’s renegotiated deal created $7.68 million in cap space. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, wide receiver Calvin Johnson agreed to a minor tweak in his contract that has created nearly $3.5 million in cap space for the Lions in 2013. Johnson was scheduled to earn $25 million in cash compensation this season, including a $5 million base salary and a $20 million option bonus, and he will still earn that much money as the renegotiation took place after the Lions had already picked up the option bonus. From what I can tell, the Lions have roughly $8 million in cap room now, which isn’t bad at all.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = ''+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Osi Umenyiora and What He Would Bring to the Detroit Lions
