PLAYERS: Cam Newton
TEAMS: Carolina Panthers
Due to his on-field demeanor, Cam Newton's been labeled many things, with "immature" being the most prevalent word thrown around. One thing you can't call him is uncharitable. Per the Charlotte Business-Journal, the Panthers quarterback, through his foundation, has kicked off a student initiative program with a $150,000 donation to three Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. Bradley, Randolph and Thomasboro Academy middle schools will each receive $50,000, and the funds will be used to "develop customized programs aimed at enhancing the cultural environment, increasing student achievement, boosting student engagement and advancing health and wellness as part of the Cam Newton Foundation's School Pride Program." The Charlotte Observer featured this story, detailing how Newton personally visited schools in desperate need of renovations. Randolph Middle's gym only seats a crammed 450 people, but Newton wants more room for students to "yel...

Panthers look to halt struggles vs. Bucs

The most promising aspect of the Carolina Panthers remaining schedule is that thereisn'ta Manning left on the slate. They have come and gone, leaving the Queen City with emphatic victories. Eli and the New York Giants took apart the Panthers 36-7 on a Thursday night in mid-September, and this past Sunday, Peyton and the Denver Broncos cashed in on defense and special teams to...

Bridges burned: Panthers sign former Cardinal

TEMPE, Ariz. -- When we last caught up with offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges three weeks ago two weeks before the Cardinals waived him it was clear he was unhappy the team had chosen to place him on injured reserve Sept. 2 with torn thumb ligaments that required surgery. Bridges was certain he would be able to come back by midseason, and that has proven true. The Cards reached...

Panthers pass rush bright spot in losing season

The Carolina Panthers' pass rush has proven to a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season. Defensive ends Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy have combined for 15 sacks in the past six games making them the NFL's second-most productive sack tandem in the league behind only Denver's Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil. Panthers coach Ron Rivera says he wouldn't trade...

According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has donated $150,000 to three Charlotte middle schools to help them with raising awareness for health and fitness. With all of the negative attention that Cam has received this season, I thought it would be nice to pat him on the back for doing some nice for the local community.   var _CI = _CI...

Week 10 NFL Recap: Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers

Carolina needs so much help it’s not even funny anymore. A touchdown in the first quarter, then one for good measure in the fourth. Ho hum. Nothing much to see here except for punt returns which should not have counted and Peyton Manning’s inability to throw for more than one touchdown against the Carolina Panthers. I mean, yeah, sure, the Broncos beat the Panthers by 22 points...

Newton looking strong in Week 11

Given some of the matchups on tap for Week 11 and the myriad injuries affecting the quarterback position, fantasy owners took long, hard looks at Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Tannehill for the kickoff to Week 11 in Buffalo. Their time would have been better spent writing letters to Santa Claus. Sure, Tannehill threw a touchdown pass to Davone Bess, and I guess that the deep ball intercepted...
