Found March 25, 2013 on Cleveland Sports 360:
PLAYERS: Colt McCoy
TEAMS: Cleveland Browns
Cleveland-browns
It is starting to look like the Browns quarterback competition will be Colt McCoy going against Brandon Weeden and Thad Lewis. If you listen to people who have been brain washed by the Browns former coaching staff, they think McCoy shouldn’t even be wearing a Browns uniform. The old leadership on the Browns did a great number on ruining the personal image of Colt McCoy. They handed the starting job to Weeden last season and we all saw the results. It was clear that McCoy could move the team more effectively in the preseason. It was Clear that when Weeden was knocked out of the game in Denver, it was McCoy that was the only Cleveland quarterback able to take the team into the end-zone for a touchdown. Weeden led one of the worse red-zone offenses in the NFL last season. The result was a team that finished the season with only 5 wins. Sure the Browns scored more points in 2012 than they did in 2011. The result was still 5 wins. McCoy never had a real shot at staring in 2012. Weeden wa...

  • I think that Colt McCoy could beat Brandon Weeden in a quarterback competition. I also think that the Browns may draft a QB in a later round (3rd or 4th?) in the 2013 draft. Some experts say that Matt Scott, from Arizona, could develop into s starting QB. I saw Ryan Nassib (Syracuse) play outside in Yankee Satdium in January in the Pinstripe Bowl. He looked very poised and won the game. If he is not bothered by very cold weather, he would fit into Cleveland's lakefront stadium.
  • I have heard and seen that new coaching staffs usually bring in their own players. No matter what, they stick with those players through thick or thin. In this case Shearer and Weeden. He brought him in and in his mind he was the best thing since processed cheese. But we knew better and we saw the results. Can McCoy do better. Sure he can. He was better then and I am sure he is better now. The problem is he lost a year sitting the bench, lost confidence, and lost time practicing with the second team. Yea Shearer, what a joke. Also, I just hope we didn't just trade the best 2 players that solidified the team away(Dawson, Cribs)to replace them with undertalented starters. I just might give up and start rooting for that other Ohio team didn't exist until 25 years after I was born. Who Dat:)
  • what the browns did with Colt was soooo wrong... get rid of weeden and put in Thad Lewis... I was impressed with him in the Pittsburg game..
  • Of course McCoy can beat out Weeden. McCoy's stats over his first 16 games were better than Weeden's even though he didn't have as good a supporting cast as Weeden.

He was not given a chance to compete for the job last season. It was handed to Weeden. The result was the people responsible for that poor decision got fired and I'm not blaming Shurmer.
  • Weeden lacks the fire in the belly that McCoy has.Weeden cant carry McCoys lunch box.We dont need another lousy D.Anderson

Third-year tight end Jordan Cameron will reportedly be the starting tight end within Norv Turner’s offense for the Cleveland Browns in 2013. NFL Free Agency: Kellen Winslow claims Browns are “interested”

Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk found this interesting nugget on former Brown Kellen Winslow II- “Free agent tight end Kellen Winslow says his career is definitely not over, and he already knows there are teams interested in him for the 2013 season. Winslow said on NFL AM that Browns coach Rob Chudzinski, who coached him at the University of Miami, is interested in bringing...

Cleveland Browns Linebacker Scott Fujita sets Example for Pro Athletes

On Sunday, The New York Times published a letter/article by NFL Linebacker Scott Fujita on the topic of gay marriage, specifically California Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage. Normally when athletes speak out on social issues, the end result is not good. In fact, when I hear that an athlete has voiced his or her opinion on a social or political matter, I cringe and...

Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis refuses to comment on Trent Richardson law suit.

Trent Richardson may have a funny way of celebrating a Browns victory.  According to the court documents filed in the law suit against the Browns running back, he and his entourage were at a club partying after the Browns won on Dec 6th. He then invited the people he is accused of having his girlfriend attracting to his home.  When the women were asked to leave, they slammed the...

Cleveland Browns sign DE Desmond Bryant

I thought Desmond Bryant was an underrated free agent going into the off-season. Bryant played well for the Raiders on 645 snaps last year, taking over as a starter week 10 after Richard Seymour got hurt and grading out as ProFootballFocus’ #7 defensive tackle, excelling as a pass rusher and holding his own against the run. In 2011, he graded out slightly above average on 596 snaps...

Amid back-and-forth news with sought-after CB Brent Grimes, the Browns made another minor signing today in the form of a 1-year contract with free agent CB Kevin Barnes. Per the Browns: “The Cleveland Browns today signed defensive back Kevin Barnes to a one-year contract, the club announced. Originally drafted by the Washington Redskins in the third round (80th overall) of the...

Peter King of Sports Illustrated writes today that the top CB in the draft, Alabama’s Dee Milliner could be available when the Browns are on the clock at number six, which most experts thought was highly unlikely a month ago- “I think with the first round of the draft one month from tonight, I am hearing doubts on Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner (could drop out of the top five...

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns signed defensive back Kevin Barnes to a one-year contract. Barnes has played in 31 career NFL games for Washington and Detroit. A Lot of Interest In OLB Victor Butler

Ian Rapoport reports that free agent OLB Victor Butler is taking a physical for the Browns today. Rapoport adds that there’s a lot of interest in Butler right now and points out that Butler also took a physical with the Saints last week. Cleveland already has Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard locked into their outside linebacker positions, but Butler would provide them quality depth...
