The 49ers will be looking for newcomer veteran receivers Randy Moss and Mario Manningham to make a difference right away when they face the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s pivotal season opener at Lambeau Field, a place Moss knows well.

Veteran wide receiver Randy Moss is listed as a starting wide receiver on the official depth chart by the 49ers. The former Marshall star has impressed 49ers coaches with his work ethic and effort this preseason, and it appears as though his hard work has paid off.
Moss will start opposite of Michael Crabtree, with Mario Manningham and Ted Ginn working as second stringers this week...
While most of the talk surrounding the 49ers contest against the Green Bay Packers this coming Sunday is in regards to the high powered Packers offense versus the 49ers stingy defense, there is a drifting air that could suggest a surprising role reversal for the game. The moves that the 49ers made this off-season with their receiving core could ultimately dictate the eventual outcome...
Aaron Rodgers is a man who wants to let bygones be bygones.
Rodgers sat in the green for hours during the 2005 NFL while his quarterback counterpart for Sundays season opener, Alex Smith went no 1 overall.
Rodgers has gone on to win a super bowl, make people in Green Bay forget about Brett Favre, and one and NFL MVP award.
Alex Smith on the other hand has battled coaching...
Wide receiver Randy Moss has made a move up the 49ers' depth chart. He was listed as a co-starter next to Mario Manningham for most of training camp, but the team's latest depth chart, which was released Tuesday, shows Moss as a starter alongside Michael Crabtree. Manningham and Kyle Williams are listed as second-string receivers. Source: FFToolbox.com Attached Thumbnails

The San Francisco 49ers are a popular preseason Super Bowl pick headed into the 2012 season.
Led by dominant defensive end Justin Smith, and the All-World linebacking duo of Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, the 49ers plan to be in contention for a Championship so long as their key players stay healthy. And while San Francisco’s fierce front seven will surely...
Jim Harbaugh, Alex Smith and Frank Gore look to recapture some of that old magic from the glory days of old for the San Francisco 49ers.
(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By ANTONIO GONZALEZ AP Sports Writer Two are All-Pros. One was the runner-up for the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. The other just received a new $44.5 million contract.
Patrick Willis, NaVorro Bowman, Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks are not only the biggest reason behind the San Francisco 49ers' defensive success last season...

Anyone who has been following the website during the offseason knows I’m not particularly optimistic about the 2012 49ers. I have them as my team that goes from 1st round bye to out of the playoffs (there’s one every season) and my team that sees a win decrease of 6+ games (also one every season)....
What kind of player are the 49ers getting in veteran outside linebacker Clark Haggans, who joined the team this week? Brad Wilbricht, publisher of AZRedReport.com, stops by NinersDigest to give some insight on what the 13th-year veteran did during his four years with the Cardinals and what he brings to the 49ers at this point in his career. Get the inside scoop on Haggans here.

This is our first chance to see if the Packers pass rush is truly improved.
It’s here. Finally, it’s here.
The draft? Done. Training camp? Finished. Preseason? Completed.
The dress rehearsals are done and the games that count are upon us. The curtain on the 2012 NFL season has been raised and the march to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans begins in earnest this weekend.
The San Francisco 49ers probably face their biggest challenge of the season in week one of the regular season when they take on the league favorite Green Bay Packers. That is not to say that many of the other teams that the 49ers face this year aren’t lethal in their own right. The Packers are just a very well rounded and well-coached team that is a perennial favorite year...
It was no big secret what the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers needed to improve on in the offseason to get back into Super Bowl contention.
The 49ers, who boasted one of the NFL's stingiest defenses last year, appear to have fulfilled their needs by adding playmakers on offense. The Packers still have concerns in their secondary, but somehow found a way to better an...
Arguably the NFL's top deep receiving threat will be taking the field for Sunday's 49ers-Packers game on FOX (4:25 p.m. ET kickoff).
And it isn't Randy Moss.
Yes, Moss once held the distinction. But having spent last season out of football after a catastrophic 2010 campaign, there are no guarantees Moss, 35, will be able to stake claim to that title again with the 49ers...
