After completing 60.0 percent (354) of his 590 attempts as a rookie for 3512 yards and 18 TDs (15 INTs) Sam Bradford had the signs of a QB1 entering his second year. Unfortunately he fell on his face last year. Can Sam Bradford bounce back in 2012?
.
Part of Bradford’s woes had to do with injury. His ankle gave him fits for a good portion of the year, limiting Sam to ten games. That type of injury severely hampers a quarterback’s ability to do his job.
.
Another aspect where Bradford struggled was when he was under pressure, and with a league-leading 55 sacks allowed, the Rams saw plenty of pressure last year. St. Louis was middle-of-the-road in 2010 in sacks so if they can improve their protection, Bradford should be more comfortable in the pocket.
.
The Rams were also lacking in playmakers at receiver last year. After catching 85 passes during Bradord’s rookie year, Danny Amendola was limited to one game and five catches. Taking away Bradford’s security blanket do him any favors. Along with Amendola’s return, the Rams gave Bradford another weapon by drafting Brian Quick.
.
Quick will have a learning curve to deal with having come from Appalachian State, but he has the ability to become one of the best receivers in this class as early as this year.
.
Bradford still has his work cut out for him. Given his pedigree and success as a rookie, I think he’s capable of bouncing back. Will he make his way into QB1 territory? Probably not, but he could make his way into solid QB2 territory.
.
What are your thoughts on Bradford?
