Ravens. Some Browns fans think the Ravens defense is old and slowing down. The fact is they are coming off one of the teams biggest losses of the season. I look for Ed Reed the Ravens safety to have a few things to say about Gordon running down the middle of the field wide open. Reed may even bait Brandon Weeden into some bad decisions. The Browns were on the look out for Reed in their  first meeting with the Ravens,  Weeden is well aware of the Ravens safeties presence on the field. The Browns may wan to wait until the second half to try their luck against the Baltimore secondary when it comes to the long ball. If the Ravens defense does slow down, that would be the perfect time to try the long hook up. Cleveland may want to try the running game with  Ray Lewis missing in the middle of the field. Maybe the Browns can bust loose a couple of runs to wear the Ravens defense down a little quicker in the game. What ever the case is this is going to be a tough game for the Cleveland Brow...

Pat Shurmur on young players gaining confidence

Browns head coach Pat Shurmur spoke to the media today and answered a question regarding his team’s confidence level- “I think you build confidence when you win football games. The last few weeks we won a couple. When you’re trying to build something, you can look at the season in quarters and halves and we’ve got a half a season left to play. We’ve got some division games...

The Ravens need to play more consistently on offense if they want to go far this season. Week 9 preview.

The Ravens need to get things together if they want to win their division.  Joe Flacco played well early but he's not been consistent enough for me.  I don't buy him as a Super Bowl QB. Denver at Cincinnati - The Boncos and Peyton Manning have things rolling now on both sides of the ball.  Don't forget that the Broncos played great defense and special teams...

Cleveland Browns Film Room: Game 8, 3rd and 1

Like we did last year before it became fashionable, we’ll take a seat each week in our very own WFNY Browns film room and break down a little tape from the game, with a specific focus.  Do enjoy. “We did a study on it and we’ll keep our results to ourselves. On third and one you need to be able to execute at a very high percentage for one yard. We’ve had a combination of...

Browns activate DT Phil Taylor

Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor has been activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list and will play Sunday against Baltimore. Taylor missed Cleveland's first eight games after undergoing surgery on a torn chest muscle he hurt lifting weights in May. The 335-pounder practiced all week and coach Pat Shurmur said Friday that Taylor's ''ready to go'&...

Angry rant: Running backs are overrated (and I blame ESPN and fantasy)

by John Huffstetler I've ranted against ESPN before in an article that discussed how they were more of an entertainment network than a sports network, and this issue ties directly to that issue of athlete glorification. Running Backs on the pro level simply are not nearly as important as they are perceived. In fact, of all the offensive and defensive positions, one could argue...

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns: Week 9 NFL Pick

Baltimore Ravens (5-2) at Cleveland Browns (2-6) Road favorites are 42-15 ATS off a bye. That makes sense. Road favorites tend to be very good teams and very good teams tend to be extra focused with a week off. The Browns kind of got screwed over by the schedulers because they have two straight games at home as dogs against a team coming off a bye. Last week, they hosted the Chargers...

Star Wars, Disney, the Cleveland Browns and Jimmy Haslam

Cash flow is extremely important in business, but it can’t be the only important thing. Cash flow is a result and it is generally an indicator of the health of a variety of other factors that encapsulate a whole business. The Cleveland Browns have never had an issue with cash flow as far as I or anyone else can tell. Browns fans have been flocking to a garbage team like probably...

INSIDE THE CLOSET OF “NFL FASHION PLATE” JOSH CRIBBS

Showcasing personal style on the gridiron is not an option for NFL players. Even a slight alteration to their team uniform, such as a cleat color change, can result in a football fashion-related fine. Off-the-field, players have free reign when it comes to their sartorial decisions. In the NFL, the competition extends off-the-field as guys vie for best-dressed honors. Cleveland...

Don't expect any wholesale Ravens changes against Browns...

Hurricane Sandy certainly left an impact upon Ravens Nation... there was much damage done to property and psyches of Ravens fans all along the coast and bay-lines and inner portions of Maryland. It certainly put the previous criticisms of Ravens' fans of their home team in perspective... Despite losing a bad outing to the Houston Texans prior to their bye week, the Ravens are...

Cleveland Browns: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#28)

Last week: 29 (+1) Record: 2-6 The Browns remain better than their record. At 2-6, they rank 25th in the league in yards per play differential and 28th in rate of sustaining drives differential. They’ve only lost one game by more than a touchdown and that was against the Giants in New York in a game that was a lot closer than the final score suggested. The Browns were leading 14...

Ravens-Browns Preview

The Baltimore Ravens have shown under John Harbaugh they never stay down for very long. They've also shown a knack for beating the Cleveland Browns. Coming off their bye week following the franchise's worst loss in five years, the Ravens try to sweep the season series from their AFC North rival for the fifth straight year Sunday when they visit a Browns team seeking its...

Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “Waiters looked like the world’s biggest maroon in the Cavs’ wine uniforms last July — hitting the summer circuit in lousy shape and appearing unmotivated.
