NFL Trade Rumors:
Arizona Cardinals HC Bruce Arians told reporters that first-round pick G Jonathan Cooper suffered a broken leg during Saturday’s preseason game, per Mike Jurecki . Kent Somers adds that it looks like Cooper’s 2013 season could be over, but they’re sure yet. Arians mentioned that he is still hoping that Cooper could be back at a later point this season. Cooper was carted off the field after he got his left leg tangled up while making a block downfield. Arizona is coming off of a season in which their offensive line was major weak spot, so it made sense for them bring in a solid player who could solidify their interior line play with the No. 7 overall pick. The Cardinals will almost certainly place Cooper on either the PUP list, which would cost him the first six games of the season, or on IR with the designation to return at a later point in the season. The Arizona Cardinals will face many inevitable challenges in the upcoming 2013 NFL regular season. Ryan Mathews is off and running this preseason, and Jonathan Cooper's season could be over before it really began. Mathews, slowed by two broken collarbones a year ago, carried 14 times for 57 yards and a TD, and the Chargers beat the mistake-prone Cardinals 24-7 for their first preseason victory under new coach Mike McCoy.
Saying things didn't go too well for the Arizona Cardinals Saturday night might be an understatement. Not only did the redbirds lose its first-round draft pick — right guard Jonathan Cooper, who broke his leg and is out indefinitely — but they were on the wrong side of a wacky touchdown in a 24-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
In the second quarter, the Cardinals were...
