The Arizona Cardinals have announced that they signed defensive tackle Calais Campbell to a five-year contract today.  He’ll no longer be under the franchise tag for the 2012 season, now that he has a new deal.  The Cardinals have scheduled a 1pm press conference for Friday.

Campbell is one of the Cardinals’ brightest young stars and locking him up to a long-term deal was a priority for them.

Campbell had a monster season in 2011 with 72 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception.
