TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Cardinals began the process of finding a replacement for suspended inside linebacker Daryl Washington by signing eight-year veteran Ernie Sims on Tuesday to a one-year contract. Sims (6-0, 233) played the last two seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, making 12 starts. Last season he started six games and was credited with 42 tackles. He was a first-round draft pick out of Florida State by the Detroit Lions in 2006 and played four seasons in Detroit, followed by one year with Philadelphia and one with Indianapolis. For his career, the 29-year old Sims has appeared in 109 games (87 starts) and has recorded 718 tackles.
