The Panthers are reeling fast at 1-5.  It doesn’t get any easier as they face a pack of hungry Bears looking to feast on Cam Newton and company.Cam Newton is overrated!I didn’t like him at Auburn and I don’t think he is a good NFL quarterback.  Yes, I think he will be a bust, and yes I am an African-American, so you can throw the race card out the window.  The bust comparisons to Vince Young or JaMarcus Russell are correct until Cam Newton proves that he is an elite quarterback. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears are smoking.  They are coming off a dominating performance Monday night against NFC North rival Detroit.  When you hold “Megatron” Calvin Johnson to only three catches for 34 yards, your defense is elite.  Cam Newton and the Panthers don’t have a prayer.  Cam would have better luck suiting up for Auburn this weekend and facing Texas A&M then to face Lovie’s bunch.  Bold Prediction #1: The Bears D will dine on Panthers for a Sunday afternoon brunch.  It’s no secret, the Bears play defense and play it well.  They held Detroit scoreless until 30 seconds were left in the game on Monday and completely shut down the entire Lions offense.  The Bears have done this all season, forcing turnovers (NFL best 21), stuffing the run and confusing the hell out of opposing quarterbacks.  It will be the same result for the Panthers.  Chicago’s defense ranks sixth in total defense, allows a league low 13 points per game and they are number one against the run.  Carolina relies heavily on the running game with DeAngelo Williams  and Cam Newton utilizing the zone read option game, but Chicago’s defense is too discipline to fall victim to the option game.  Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher are seasoned veterans who have seen it all.  Remember this, the Bears unveiled a blueprint on how to shut down a young and talented Michael Vick when he was with the Falcons.  You don’t think Lovie Smith will design a defense to shut down Cam Newton?  If the Panthers can’t get Steve Smith the ball, they will be in trouble.  Steve Smith has played well this year, but has yet to score a touchdown.  Expect Charles Tillman to keep him out of the end zone on Sunday.  Bold Prediction #2: Chicago’s offense really gets it going. The Panthers defense ranks 21st in the NFL allowing nearly 400 yards per game.   Plus, they are allowing 24 points per game.  Their defense played well against Dallas last week, but they will be without All Pro linebacker Jonathan Beason who is done for the year.  Matt Forte ran the ball exceptionally well against Detroit and he is going to have to get going early for the Bears to be successful.  I think this is the game that Chicago’s running game catches fire as Forte and Michael Bush will have big performances on the ground.  Jay Cutler must be more consistent throwing the football.  He has a top five wide receiver in Brandon Marshall and there is nobody in the Panthers secondary that can check him one on one.  Marshall is due for a multiple touchdown game.  This is that game.  Bold Prediction #3: Bears dominate! Bears dominate! Bears dominate! This game won’t be close. When it is all said and done, Chicago will prove to be too much for Carolina.  Cam Newton is already blaming his teammates, coaches, fans, and the popcorn guy for everything that has gone wrong this year.  He has lost the team and I expect him to be running for his life all Sunday afternoon.  If Carolina can’t run the football, Steve Smith will be blanketed by two or three defenders constantly which will totally eliminate him from the equation.  If Chicago can put the clamps on Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith chances for having a career game is slim to none.  Final Score:  Chicago 37 Carolina 3
