Former 2010 second-round draft pick Jimmy Clausen has been let go by the Carolina Panthers. Clausen was believed to be the quarterback of the future after the Panthers drafted him 48th overall out of Notre Dame. The writing may have been on the wall in 2011 when Cam Newton was selected with the first-overall pick.
Clausen quickly fell out of favor with the Panthers and some...
getty images Jimmy Clausen has been waived by the Carolina Panthers. Clausen, 25, played only during his 2010 rookie season and has been on the Panthers bench since the team drafted Cam Newton in the following draft. Despite all the talk of his arm at Notre Dame it never materialized in the NFL and he now finds himself looking for a roster spot. Clausen’s Carolina career ends with...
A person familiar with the situation says the Carolina Panthers have released former second-round draft pick Jimmy Clausen, a move that leaves them with only two quarterbacks on the roster.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday on condition of anonymity because the move has not been publically announced.

Cam Newton is the unquestioned leader of the Carolina Panthers, and with that leadership comes an occasional bold prediction. Newton and the Panthers are finally feeling confident about themselves, and according to Pro Football Talk, Newton “feels the Panthers are a playoff contender.” “I really do believe it,” Newton said. ”I’m not just saying anything [...]
If you have to choose between the defense or the offense of your favorite team being on the same page during the preseason, you would probably go with the defense. While Panthers fans have been pleasantly surprised to see the defense capitalize on their opportunities, they have to be concerned with how the offense has had a difficult time getting down the field. From upper management...
The NFL fined Carolina Panthers running back Armond Smith $15000 for the kick that led to his ejection from an Aug. 22 preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The kick happened as Smith who played in four games for the Panthers last season stood up after being tackled by Albert McClelland on a running play in the fourth quarter. Smith's right foot struck McClelland between...
