In the 11 months since Jonathan Stewart last appeared in a game, the Carolina Panthers running back has undergone surgeries on both ankles, put in hundreds of hours of rehab and logged countless miles on stationary bikes without going anywhere. But barring any setbacks, Stewart will be back Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Stewart practiced in full pads Wednesday for the first time since last November, and afterward pronounced himself good to go. “I feel ready,” Stewart said. Asked whether Stewart likely would play against the Falcons, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said: “Yeah, he looked good.” Stewart has been on the physically unable to perform list since the preseason. He began practicing last week, but was never in the mix to play in last Thursday night’s game against Tampa Bay. Rivera said the Panthers want to see how Stewart responds to Wednesday’s work, and can wait until 4 p.m. Saturday before activating him for Sunday’s game. But based on how he practiced Wednesday, a...

Carolina Panthers try to make it four in a row this weekend

Talk to people around the Panthers organization and they’ll tell you the last few weeks have been almost like fun and games: the mood has been lighter and happier among the players. Winning will do that. Carolina, after struggling out of the gate to a 1-3 record, have won their last three games in a row and are above .500 for the first time since 2008. Coincidentally, that was...

Why The Carolina Panthers Are Among The Hottest Teams In The NFL

All of a sudden the Carolina Panthers are in the NFC playoff race. After a grim 1-3 start to the season they found their feet and put together a three game winning streak to bring them to a much more respectable 4-3, in fact in their last five games the Panthers are 4-1.Who would have thought that at this point of the season from the NFC South the Panthers would have a better shot...

Carolina Panthers: 2013 Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#10)

Last week: 12 (+2) Record: 4-3 Don’t look now, but the Panthers are a few plays away from 6-1 and have the 5th best point differential in the NFL, on the strength of the #2 scoring defense in the NFL. They are moving the chains at an 80% rate, as opposed to 71% for their opponents, the 3rd best rate in the NFL. Vegas knows how good they are and they probably will only be underdogs...

Mike Shula, continuity paying off for Carolina Panthers’ offense

When Mike Shula met with Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera to interview for the offensive coordinator job in January, he didn’t do a PowerPoint presentation or slap any pie charts on the table. The only thing Shula brought to the meeting was the playbook – and his vision for what portions of it he would highlight if he were hired to replace Rob Chudzinski. Rivera liked Shula’s...

Panthers still motivated by Ryan's off-the-cuff remark

When he stands before the media, Matt Ryan is as polished as they come. Every word is calculated and mostly it's calculated not to divulge any secret to the opposition, betray any teammate or strategy or fire up the other team with so-called bulletin board material. In a rare moment last season, Ryan let his emotions get the best of him and the cameras were watching. As the...

Carolina Panthers: Week 9 Panthers Predictions

Hello Panther fans. Sorry this is coming out so late. It has been a busy week and I am just now able to post it. This week we welcome to town our most bitter of division rivals, the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are a team that is banged up. I have heard Roddy White has been practicing this week though. That would be a bit of good news for Atlanta. Julio Jones is done for the year...

Can the Falcons stop Cam Newton?

They stay on the road the week and face a tough divisional challenge in Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Coming into the season, one of the things that stood out about the second half of the schedule was the number of "mobile" quarterbacks...

RB Rankings – Week Nine

RB Rankings – Week Nine Eddie Lacy comes in as a top six option this week against a Bears defense that belies its name as a Bears defense. The Bears have been gashed by opposing running backs in recent weeks and they have little to no chance of slowing down Eddie Lacy especially with top linebacker Lance Briggs on the shelf.
