Alexbarron

Reports are surfacing out of Dallas that the Cowboys are working on deal that would send breakout linebacker Bobby Carpenter to St. Louis in exchange for veteran offensive tackle Alex Barron.  Both players are former first-round picks in the NFL draft.  Barron has started 74 of 76 games for the Rams and has anchored their left side.  Barron does have experience playing on the right side.  He started 26 games there in his first two years with the Rams.  If the deal goes through, it is likely that Barron will compete with Doug Free to start at left tackle.

Carpenter, who has one start in his 4 years with the Cowboys, has found his role in the nickel defence.  He was frequently asked to cover some of the leagues biggest and best tight-ends last season, and he responded extremely well.  Hopes were high for Carpenter, but with the drafting of former Penn St. linebacker Sean Lee, Carpenter has become somewhat expendable.
