As of now, it doesn’t sound too good for center Geoff Hangartner to be in the lineup this week when the team takes on New England. He has missed the Bills’ last two games with a knee injury and second-year guard Eric Wood has started in his place at center.

“If we were out of linemen, Geoff might be able to get ready to play by Sunday, but we’re not pushed into that,” coach Chan Gailey said. “I’m thinking that if we can let him get healthy one more week, that wouldn’t hurt anything. I don’t want to push him back too quick this time of the season.”

Gailey’s assessment of Wood at center is mixed but added that, “he’s learning.” Wood also had to deal with Miami’s 6-foot-4, 355-pound nose tackle, Paul Soliai.

“He’s done some good things and done some bad things,” he said. “It’s hard to say he’s been great or awful. He’s been somewhere in between there. He’s learning. He hasn’t been there. I’ll tell you what, the nose tackle we just played is right at the top of the list of guys we played this year so that was an extreme challenge for him.”
