HER HUSBAND, the new football coach at Washington State, is always in the spotlight. But she's a huge college football fan and says she might be more consumed by the game than her famous husband. Though we rarely hear about her, Mike Leach’s wife is everywhere - running the household, taking her teen-aged kids to school and practice when she’s not preparing meals, paying bills and exercising.
BEST OF MAXIM
With the season opener against the Brigham Young Cougars quickly approaching, Washington State Head Coach Mike Leach held a conference call over the weekend to discuss his Cougars’ season opening game at BYU. Leach called BYU “a good team,” as well as a team that “plays hard” and that is “well coached.” He recognized that BYU has a “great tradition, great setting...
PULLMAN – Only two groups of people seem to dread Mike Leach’s arrival at Washington State: Opponents, and WSU football statisticians. Cougfan.com has compiled a list of the 10 WSU individual records we think are most likely to go by the wayside this season. To balance things out, we also list 10 WSU team records that we consider virtually untouchable.
IT WAS A reflection session. With Washington State opening its season at 7:15 p.m. Thursday (TV: ESPN) at Brigham Young, coach Mike Leach’s alma mater, he fielded questions ranging from meeting his wife to the impact legendary coach Lavell Edwards made on him during his time in Provo, Utah. Leach also discussed the quarterback situation and much more during his Saturday teleconference.
When Mike Leach was the head coach at Texas Tech, his offensive line lined up in a wider-split stance. When former Texas Tech offensive line coach and Leach assistant Robert Anae was BYU’s offensive coordinator, BYU’s offensive line employed a similar split formation. This Thursday, BYU’s defensive line will once again face the splits.
WSU HAS 12 known verbal commitments and the remainder of the 2013 class openings figure to lean heavily towards the linemen on both sides of the ball. A three star offensive tackle prospect from the Northwest who holds a WSU offer talks with CF.C on the topics of Mike Leach, recruiting and more.
PULLMAN – The Cougs suited up under the lights Friday night for a quick run-through. But brief or not, Mike Leach showed that the Cougars’ starting lineup can always change and made a move up front -- as well as announcing a “rough” idea of what the starting lineup looks like on offense with just under a week to go before the opener against BYU. The game captains were also named.
This Thursday night, Mike Leach makes his return to college football as the head coach of Washington State.
Leach’s Cougars will take on the Cougars of Brigham Young University in Provo. The game will be televised on ESPN starting at 10:15 ET.

A number of designers have taken their shot at redesigning the Arizona Cardinals helmets and uniforms to their liking.
Featured are a number of designs. Some are interesting options, while some may hit a nerve with fans. Could you imagine Larry Fitzgerald, Beanie Wells, or Kevin Kolb wearing something like this?
WSU FANS ARE just two days away from getting their first in-game look at the 2012 Cougs led by Mike Leach – and the energy and excitement is palpable. But before jumping the gun, Cougar fans also need to be realistic with their expectations for this season. Read on for my predictions on all 12 games on the Washington State schedule.
There's just three days until the 2012 football season gets underway and BYU takes on Washington State in a nationally televised showdown for Cougar supremacy. After Monday's practice, Coach Mendenhall answered questions about a wide variety of topics, including his depth chart, Mike Leach's offense, and much more.
PULLMAN – The Cougs on Tuesday held their final full practice before they play for real Thursday night at BYU. The WSU coaches preached fundamentals and technique in a session highlighted by numerous drills and non-contact scrimmaging for the starters and key reserves. Mike Leach emphasized that the BYU tilt is just another game, and there’s no reason for the Cougs to feel overly anxious.
Leach’s Cougs have few surprises
We’re just days away from the start of the 2012 college football season and the Washington State Cougars have released their post-fall camp depth chart heading into the season opener against BYU.
Mike Leach has strayed away from officially naming a starter at various positions throughout a camp clouded in secrecy — something we’ve all been...
Opening Night Picks: Why You Should be ExcitedReasons to be Excited about Thursday
1. Craig James will have a miserable night, watching games on his couch from “Real Street.” He will not be announcing/ruining the viewing experience of all ESPN viewers anymore. Better yet, his former network is showing the game of his nemesis Mike Leach – Washington State at BYU at 10:15pm...
Happy Humpday Cougs. We're almost there, game day is tomorrow, so just hold on for one more day!
On to this morning's links.....
Christian Caple has this post from yesterday's practice. It sounded as though it was the typical "Thursday" practice for game week, including some hard-hitting action in a scrimmage with the back-ups. But Caple did get...
