Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey will miss the team's week two matchup against the New York Giants due to a lingering left foot sprain that had him out since the middle of August, reports the Associated Press.
Head coach John Fox ruled him out after he missed Friday's practice. Bailey is slowly recovering from the sprain, but apparently isn't quite there just yet. He expressed hope he could play in the season opener vs. the Ravens, but the team decided not to push it, giving him a good 10 days rest before the Giants game. Obviously, hell need more time.
Per the AP: ' Instead, he'll miss consecutive games for only the fourth time in his 15-year NFL career. Fox said Bailey didn't have a setback this week but was "on schedule. He's making great progress. He's being watched over by our medical staff and he's getting closer." '
