After this past Sunday’s loss to the Colts, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson claimed that head coach Chan Gailey needs to give up play-calling duties and allow quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to make the calls. Gailey has come out and claimed that Fitzpatrick has some wiggle room when it comes to making his own calls. “Sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn’t,” Gailey told WGR-AM on Monday, via NFL.com. “He can go out there and change some things. Depends on the situation and the play and what we are trying to do. And the thing that we are trying to do, sometimes, is run the football — we don’t want to change it to a pass. Sometimes we change out of passes to runs, sometimes we change out of runs to passes, depends on what we get.” Gailey explained why Fitzpatrick won’t be given more responsibility when it comes to making his own calls. “There is a lot more to it than just seeing what they do and just callin’ a play, there is a bigger picture here. … You are setting up the next p

After today’s loss to the Colts, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson told the media that he believes head coach Chan Gailey should stop calling plays and allow quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to take over. “How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays,” Johnson said, per The Buffalo News. “He’s out there on the field. He sees the adjustments...

NFL Rumors: Does Stevie Johnson Want Buffalo Bills To Replace Chan Gailey?

If Stevie Johnson gets his way, then Chan Gailey will no longer be calling the plays on offense for the Buffalo Bills. It is not as if the enigmatic wide receiver wants the Bills to fire their head coach, but rather for Gailey to give up the play calling on offense and hand them over to someone else. Of course, Johnson wants that someone else to be starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick...

Was Stevie Johnson wrong for saying what he said?

Following Sunday’s loss to the Colts, Stevie Johnson said he wants coach Chan Gailey to give up play-calling duties.Johnson posted a 6/106/0 line, but he wasn’t happy afterward. “How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays,” he said. “He’s out there on the field. He sees the adjustments that need to be done.” Gailey is accustomed to Johnson’s...

Stevie Johnson wants Ryan Fitzpatrick calling plays over Chan Gailey

The Buffalo Bills fell to the Indianapolis Colts 20-13 on Sunday for their fourth loss in five games, and wide receiver Stevie Johnson wants some changes. Johnson said after the game that he would like to see quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick begin calling more plays instead of head coach Chan Gailey. “How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays,” Johnson...

Bills WR Johnson backpedals on coaching criticism

Receiver Stevie Johnson and the Buffalo Bills' offense suddenly have one thing in common. Both are moving in reverse. Johnson on Monday backpedaled away from comments he made a day earlier, when he questioned coach Chan Gailey's play calling following a 20-13 loss at Indianapolis. Johnson now says he misspoke. Rather than suggesting Ryan Fitzpatrick should take over more...

Chan Gailey's Ego is killing Buffalo

"You can win the World Series without Babe Ruth.'' On a few occasions, Chan Gailey would tell his coaches this before the Bills hired him as coach. Now, you could view it as being a way to say we can get a team full of good players and win without a star player. It is a team game, right? Standard coach speaking. However, after about two and half seasons worth of...

Game Recap: Colts 20, Bills 13

The slimmest of slim playoff hopes hung in the balance entering this week. Those hopes were still in play late into the fourth quarter before being, quite literally, punted away. Chan Gailey twice punted in situations where he could have pressed to put points on the board, once in the first half from the Indianapolis 34 and again late in the game on fourth and eight at...

7 Things I Bill-ieve Following the Buffalo Bills’ 20-13 Loss to the Indianapolis Colts

Some things never change. Week after week it’s more apparent that Chan Gailey has no idea what he’s doing. Unfortunately, Buddy Nix gave him a vote of confidence for next year. Buffalo’s only chance of Gailey being let go is if Ralph Wilson Jr. steps in and makes the call. With that scenario being unlikely, it looks more and more like 2013 will be another season with Gailey...

Ryan Fitzpatrick Struggles vs. Colts

Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has only thrown six touchdown passes over his last seven games after tossing 12 in the first four.Fantasy Spin:Fitzpatrick only had 180 yards with one score and one pick Sunday against the Colts, the fourth time in the last eight games he's finished with less than 200 yards passing.

Stevie Johnson thinks Ryan Fitzpatrick should be calling plays

Being a resident of Western New York, I have many friends who are Buffalo Bills fans. I have watched their frustration pile up as the the Bills dropped to 4-7 after a sluggish 20-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday. Blame is all over the place, but success always starts and ends from the top down. Head Coach Chan Gailey, who also doubles as the team’s play-caller, has been...

Lack of big-play passing game hurting Bills' offense

BY DAN BEGNOCHEQuarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had his fair share of missed opportunities downfield in the Buffalo's Bills' loss on Sunday. That seems to be becoming a nasty habit for the veteran signal-caller.While Fitzpatrick connected with wide receiver Stevie Johnson for a 63-yard strike that lead to a field goal, he missed more than one deep throw that could have turned...

Fitzpatrick comes up short in Bills' loss to Colts

The Buffalo Bills' defense sacked Andrew Luck four times, picked him off once and held the Colts' run game to 3 yards a carry. Also, Buffalo's ground game gained 5.9 yards of its own. The Bills just needed Ryan Fitzpatrick to deliver. And he didn't. Fitzpatrick missed a pair of would-be touchdown passes in the first half and was inaccurate for most of the game, yet...

Week 12 AFC East game picks: Bills at Colts

Lead writer Nick St. Denis and AFC East Daily contributors Dan Begnoche and Sean Donovan pick the Buffalo Bills' road contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Nick's take: Bills tailback C.J. Spiller is slated for a big day against a Colts run defense that gives up way too many big scampers. Ryan Fitzpatrick will be good enough, and Buffalo's rushing attack will limit...
