The Chicago Bears have traded former first round pick Gabe Carimi to the Tampa Bay Bucs, after Carimi alienated himself from the team by chosing to work out in Phoenix rather than with the team during OTAs.  Carimi played a mere 18 games in two seasons in Chicago and struggled after dislocating his knee during the second game of his rookie campaign.  The Bears receive a sixth round pick in return for Carimi, which shows how much value the former first rounder has in the league, essentially no value whatsoever.  In 2012 Carimi battled the lingering knee problem and performed very poorly at right tackle before being moved inside to guard due to an injury to Lance Louis.  Carimi showed some moderate signs of being a potential guard, but his overall athletic set doesn't fit that of a guard.  The Bears also drafted Kyle Long out of Oregon who is projected to be the starting right guard.  Carimi now heads to Tampa Bay to join his former college offensive line coach, Bob Bostad.  Carimi will undoubtedly be very pleased to reunite with his old college coach plus the Bears are happy to move on from the former first rounder who has no ties to this front office or coaching regime.  The Bears have focused this off-season on revamping their offensive line drafting Long and Jordan Mills and adding Jermon Bushrod, Matt Slauson and resigning Jonathan Scott.  Aaron Kromer has stated he plans on carrying seven active game day players meaning it will be a battle for the final two active spots.  This boils down to the Bears being higher on Scott, and Mills at right tackle and James Brown and Kyle Long at right guard.  Brown has been running with the first team at right guard throughout OTAs.  Long will get his first taste of playing with the veterans next week during Bears mini-camp.  The only sticking point, Carimi has to pass a phsycial in order for the trade to go through.  His knee is reportedly where it needs to be, but it could be an interesting sticking point in the next couple of days.
