Found October 16, 2013 on Sports Injury Alert:
The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 6-0 last week against the Raiders and kept on rolling, but there was a scare in that game.  Branden Albert got rolled up into when blocking for quarterback Alex Smith and it looked pretty serious as he looked like he was in a lot of pain.  Albert was able to walk off the field under his own power before being taken into the locker room. Albert took an MRI the next day and received good news after seeing there was no serious damage to the knee.  Albert also suffered an elbow injury in that game, but he was able to come back into the game after the elbow injury.  Head coach Andy Reid said he thinks Albert will be able to play this week when they face the Texans. The Chiefs will need Albert to be healthy this season because the offensive line has struggled to protect Alex Smith and give him time to throw the ball.  Albert is the Chiefs best offensive lineman and plays the most important position on the line, left tackle. The Chiefs need to improve on ...

Kansas City Chiefs exceeding expectations

The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to a start that has exceeded most expectations, but certainly not the expectations of myself. The Chiefs produced six Pro Bowlers last year but had a miserable 2-14 record. After finishing the 2010 campaign with a mark of 10-6, the next two seasons were a huge disappointment and cost many people their jobs. Part of the “New Chiefs” consisted...

NFL Power Rankings week 6 edition

Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs are one of two unbeatens left in the NFL. Great googily moogily. The Kansas City Chiefs have supplanted the now defeated New Orleans Saints as the #2 team in the week 6 edition of iSportsweb’s NFL Power Rankings. It’s as surprising as it sounds for a team that won all of two games last year. Leading the way is quarterback Alex Smith ...

Kansas City Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles should be in the running for league MVP

Jamaal Charles As we near the halfway point of the 2013 NFL regular season, conversations about who should be in the running for the league’s most coveted individual award begin to heat up. The top performing quarterbacks in the league always lead the short list of candidates and deservedly so. However there are players at other positions that should be part of the conversation...

Chiefs defense keeps marching toward shattering NFL sack record

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- When the Kansas City Chiefs defense recorded 10 sacks Sunday, linebacker Justin Houston shook his head and simply called the feat "stupid," as in crazy good, of course. But as the sacks recorded by Chiefs' defense mount each week, the situation, one could say, is getting seriously stupid. Consider that the Chiefs now have 31 sacks through six games...

Chiefs' Smith eschews gaudy stats for simple wins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Every time Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is flushed from the pocket, it seems that one of two things happens: He uses his fleet feet to scramble for yards, or he throws the ball away. Neither of which is a bad thing. The Chiefs have never had a quarterback who can make things happen on the ground with the same nimbleness as Smith, nor have they had one in recent...

Meet Akeem Jordan, the unsung member of the Chiefs' Fab Four LB corps

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In some ways, Akeem Jordan is the Ringo Starr of the Chiefs' linebacking group. Jordan, an inside linebacker, goes unnoticed for the most part, simply keeping the beat as the rest of the band -- Justin Houston, Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali -- rack up sacks and bask in the media spotlight. It's an unsung role Jordan doesn't mind. "It really...

Chiefs’ defense isn’t only fueling undefeated start, it could be record-breaking

Look there are a dozen reasons this whole thing will be as outdated as a flip-phone soon enough but while the numbers line up we might as well say it out loud: This Chiefs’ defense has a chance to go down as one of the best in recent NFL memory. Honest. Now we’re all adults here. We all know the Chiefs’ first six opponents included the Jaguars and maybe two playoff teams...

Chiefs Defense Sacking Quarterbacks At Record Pace

The 6-0 Kansas City Chiefs have placed a high emphasis on getting to the passer. The Chiefs defensive unit ranks first in the NFL with 31 sacks this season, tied for the fifth-most sacks in the first six games of a season since 1963, when team sacks became an official NFL statistic (individual sacks became an official statistic in 1982).

Preview: 6-0 Chiefs welcome reeling Texans to noisy Arrowhead

The most opportunistic defense in the NFL and strong special teams have allowed the Kansas City Chiefs to overcome a mediocre offense for the second-best start in team history. The Houston Texans haven't been quite as fortunate, with a glaring turnover problem weighing down its league-best defense and otherwise quality offense. Kansas City (6-0) will look to capitalize on those...

Chiefs on pace to set sacks record

Texans coach Gary Kubiak felt an overwhelming sense of empathy for Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor when he watched video of him against the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend. If Pryor turned one direction, he ran into Tamba Hali. Turn the other, Justin Houston was on top of him. Try to step up in the pocket and Derrick Johnson was waiting. Pryor was sacked 10 times in a 24-7 victory...

NFL Power Rankings Heading Into Week Seven

We're seven weeks into the 2013 season, and the outcomes of games have been just as unpredictable as the rankings.Who thought halfway into October the Kansas City Chiefs would be making a push for the No. 1 team in the NFL? Probably not too many fans. The same goes for the Giants and Redskins; did anyone really expect them to sink to the NFL-gutters with a team like the Jaguars...

What are the odds the 9-0 Chiefs and Broncos play in Week 11?

Only two unbeaten teams are still standing in the NFL, and both are in the AFC West. That means that even if the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs continue to tear the opposition apart, something will eventually have to give. "Eventually" is actually capped at Week 11, because that's when the Broncos and Chiefs will meet in Denver.  If the Broncos and Chiefs...

Chiefs vs. Texans: 5 Questions With the Enemy

In just a few short days, two teams that are destroying preseason predictions will clash. On one hand, you have the Chiefs. While they were everyone's favorite "sleeper" team, no one (even me) expected them to be 6-0. Their defense was expected to improve, but not be dominant. On the other hand, you have the Texans. One of the most talented teams in the NFL on paper...

Meast and Least for Week 6

(via Getty Image)The Sean Taylor Memorial Meast for Week 6 is Tamba Hali, who had three and a half of the Chiefs’ 10 sacks of Terrelle Pryor as Kansas City continued its undefeated run with a 24-7 drubbing of the Raiders. An honorary mention goes to Chiefs fans for breaking the world record for crowd noise set in CenturyLink Field in Seattle last month. Nice to know the next time...
