Chiefs' Chris Jones on Jaguars' Anton Harrison: 'This Kid Is Going to Be Good'
USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick Anton Harrison had his rookie wake-up moment in Week 2, with Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones forcing Harrison into constant retreat in a 17-9 loss on Sunday, a game in which Harrison allowed two sacks and struggled with Jones throughout the day.

But for Jones, it was important for the NFL world to have a reminder of Harrison's talent.

"This kid is going to be good. He’s playing his 3rd game Sunday," Jones said on Twitter.

A four-star recruit out of high school, Harrison went on to play three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners. The 21-year-old was a one-time All-Big 12 Selection and appeared in 34 contests, mostly at the left tackle spot, with one start coming at right tackle in their 2022 season opener against UTEP.

The Jaguars selected Harrison with the No. 27 overall pick in hopes the 21-year-old tackle could help replace the loss of now-Chiefs right tackle Jawaan Taylor.

"You grow up fast as a young player in this league and it’s unfortunate that there’s no time for really development and growth, you just got to go do it," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said about Harrison on Wednesday.

"It’s our job to help him, and he’ll be a lot better this week and a lot more confident in his ability and it should be a good matchup.”

Harrison's next matchup will be no easier, with the Jaguars slated to face the Houston Texans and star rookie pass-rusher Will Anderson.
