Talk about the ultimate slap to the face. The obituary for a Kansas City Chiefs fan says the man died because of heartbreak caused by the team. Here’s the first sentence of the obituary for Loren G. “Sam” Lickteig that appeared in the Kansas City Star on Sunday: “Loren G. “Sam” Lickteig passed away on Nov. 14, 2012 of complications from MS and heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City Chiefs football team.” This is not the first time someone’s obituary mentioned a sports team, though it’s probably the first time a franchise’s disappointment has been mentioned as the cause of death. Surely whoever wrote the obituary was just joking, but it’s still probably the strongest indictment of the 1-8 team yet. On the bright side, at least Peyton Manning wasn’t the cause of someone’s death again. Photo via Jeff Passan/Twitter H/T Black Sports Online

  • I would like to see as many Chiefs fans at Loran G."Sam" Lickteig's funeral on Tuesday.
He was a true Chiefs fan.
  • if i were a chiefs fan i'd want to die.
  • this story is probably not true or everyone in cleveland would already be dead!!
  • lol no kidding
  • Hello to all the Brown fans out there try being a Lions fan the pass 60 years. Detroit Lions are the only charter member of the NFL not to play in the Super Bowl. So how hard is that to being a Football FAN.
  • My two favorite teams are the Chiefs and Jaguars. I'm on antidepressants and coping with the problem. A win by either team may put me into cardiac arrest from the excitement.
  • as i am sorry for sam's passing but dang folks come on yes there are problems but as chiefs fans we have to stick and stay enough said oh yes fans grow up
  • I'm sorry for Sam and his family for his passing. Try being a Detroit Lion's Fan for the last 60 years. Only charter member of the NFL not to play in the Super Bowl
