Raider Take:
Okay, anyone who saw the 80-yard pass by Caleb Hanie late in the Bears game knew what was going to happen when the Lions were pinned back at their own goal line last Sunday with less than two minutes to go. I knew it, and you knew it, because we've seen it so many times before with this team, across many years and regimes. Even in games they eventually win, the Raiders have made a mystifying art out of the late-game defensive breakdown, with cornerbacks flailing away and safeties in a trance, and even linebackers doing downfield sprints.Which brings me to the penalty problem, which also seems to be part of the organizational DNA of the Raiders. Blame the zebras? Okay, let's say that 10 percent of the calls are part of the conspiracy margin. So now, instead of committing 10 fouls per game in 2011, let's say we're actually committing nine. Even then we're still the worst in the NFL in that department. Shameful. The Raiders need to get their act together, starting to...

Bear Bites: Best Rivalry in Football
Good morning and welcome to Bear Bites, your Friday morning rundown of Bears news.
This morning, read up on the Bears/Packers rivalry, the aging defense, the relationship between the defense and offense, and the failure of Caleb Hanie. Thank you for reading, and happy holidays from your friends at Grizzly Detail.
The Bears laughed at the idea that there is any better...
Josh McCown shows more promise than Caleb Hanie as backup
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Josh McCown didn’t lose faith, not in his God nor in himself. The veteran quarterback was out of the NFL the entire 2010 season, instead playing for the Hartford Colonials of the UFL before latching on with the San Francisco 49ers during this preseason. After what he considered a more than solid performance, McCown was disappointed when the 49ers released him...
Bears’ offense isn’t doing defense any favors
Bears players on defense don’t openly blame the team’s four-game losing streak on the futility of their teammates on offense. While the 12 turnovers during that stretch isn’t a recipe for victory, the inability of the offense to sustain drives has put the defense in less than optimal positions. Behind Caleb Hanie, the Bears’ offense went three-and-out 21 times, one more than...

'Sunday Night Football' preview
Bears: Josh McCown, who hasn't started a game in four years, takes over for Caleb Hanie at quarterback. Packers: The Packers can clinch...
Green Bay Packers 35, Chicago Bears 21
The Bears were down 35-10 early in the 4th quarter before showing signs of life. But it was far too little and far too late. Josh McCown looked a lot better than Caleb Hanie last night…..but that’s not saying a whole lot. McCown completed 19 of 28 passes for 242 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs. He also carried the ball 8 times for 38 yards (4.8 ypc). Kahlil...
Sunday Night Football/Christmas Open Thread
Merry Christmas, everyone. We had to get you some Cardinals cheerleaders in Santa costumes because the stingy-ass Packers can’t shell out to import attractive women to their frigid little ville. Buncha cheese-makin’ Scrooges.
Anyway, consider this your open thread for tonight’s game. Both teams have reason to play, as the Bears still have a sliver of a playoff hope...
