Kansas City will be without left tackle Branden Albert against the NFL's best pass rush when they play Denver on Sunday. Albert is inactive after sustaining a back injury in last week's loss to Cincinnati. Rookie Donald Stephenson starts in his place. Wide receivers Steve Breaston and Devon Wylie, safety Tysyn Hartman, running back Cyrus Gray and quarterback Ricky Stanzi also are inactive for the Chiefs. Cornerback Omar Bolden is available for Denver. Fellow cornerback Tracy Porter is inactive, along with wide receiver Andre Caldwell, tight end Julius Thomas, guard Manny Ramirez, defensive tackle Sealver Siliga and quarterback Caleb Hanie. Denver has only six inactive players because it made no corresponding move after running back Willis McGahee went on injured reserve with a knee injury. --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Chiefs waive Ranglin, promote Newsome

The Kansas City Chiefs waived offensive lineman Rich Ranglin on Saturday and elevated wide receiver Jamar Newsome from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Newsome originally joined the Chiefs' practice squad in December 2011 after playing two games with Jacksonville that season. The former Central Florida player also spent time on Pittsburgh's practice squad. Ranglin...

Crennel defends his conservative philosophy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Four times on Sunday the Chiefs were in Denver territory facing short yardage on fourth down. Four times the Chiefs and coach Romeo Crennel opted to either kick a field goal or punt. Not exactly the hey-we-got-nothing-to-lose approach you might expect from a team that was 1-9 and riding a seven-game losing streak coming into the game. But Crennel defended his...

Jamaal Charles asks Peyton Manning for his autograph (VIDEO)

KCTV5 After yesterday’s loss to the Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles couldn’t help but ask for Peyton Manning’s autograph after the game. Some people might have a problem with Charles asking Manning for his autograph, but I don’t. I’d probably do the same thing. It’s a sign of respect for one of the NFL’s all-time greats. var _CI = _CI ||...

Chiefs' McCluster leaves with head/neck injury

Chiefs wide receiver Dexter McCluster has left Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos to be evaluated for a head and neck injury. It was unclear when McCluster was hurt, but the injury was announced at the beginning of the second half. McCluster had been active over the first 30 minutes, running twice for 23 yards and catching a game-high four passes for 21 yards. The Chiefs...

Jamaal Charles Churns 107 Yards vs. Denver

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles churned out 107 yards on 23 carries Sunday against Denver, the fourth time this season he's gone over the century mark.Fantasy Spin:Charles has shown he can handle a heavy workload this season -- he's carried the ball an average of 17.7 times per game. He might have the easiest schedule of any running back in the fantasy playoffs -- against...

1-10 Chiefs OK with conservative approach

It's Week 12 and the Kansas City Chiefs already have nothing to lose. They've dropped eight straight games to be officially eliminated from playoff contention. They lead the NFL in turnovers, haven't scored a touchdown in more than 11 quarters and still have just one lonely win during one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Time to throw caution to the wind,...

Chiefs find no silver linings in loss to Broncos

KANSAS CITY, Mo. There was a time, much earlier in this lost Chiefs season, when a tightly contested, narrow loss at the hands of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos would have been inspiring. Not any more. Not really. The Chiefs hung around with Manning and the Broncos most of Sunday afternoon, playing ultra-conservative and mistake free, but ultimately fell, 17-9. The loss...

Manning overcomes headshot, feisty Chiefs D

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The nicest thing you could say was that it was a chew toy of a tilt: A little pushing, a little pulling, and a lot of slobber. After releasing his final pass of the first half, a 7-yard touchdown toss to tight end Jacob Tamme, Peyton Manning wound up getting slammed to the ground by Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Tyson Jackson. Manning's bell got rung to...

Dwayne Bowe is Active For Chiefs

Kansas City wideout Dwayne Bowe, who sat out the entire second half Sunday against Cincinnati with neck and back problems, is active for the game against Denver.Fantasy Spin:That's the good news. The bad news is that Brady Quinn is his starting quarterback and he'll be covered by the talented Champ Bailey.

Dwayne Bowe Ineffective vs. Denver

Kansas City wideout Dwayne Bowe saw 12 targets Sunday but had just four receptions for 41 yards.Fantasy Spin:Bowe had to catch passes from Brady Quinn while watching Peyton Manning sling the ball to Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. How cruel. He should be parked on fantasy benches.

Broncos 17, Chiefs 9

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- It was not one of those performances that will be given a corner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for documentation. On Sunday, the Denver Broncos couldn't care less, as they carved out a gritty 17-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The winning effort was the sixth straight victory for the Broncos, who are 8-3 and maintain at least...

Chiefs make Broncos work for low-scoring win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The head coach of the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos knew his team would not have a leisurely afternoon Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. "When you've done this as long as I have, 24 years worth, you know they're always tough," John Fox said after his Broncos earned a 17-9 victory over the struggling Kansas City Chiefs. "We talked about...
