This year’s 2013 draft is going to be a great one and like many others I will have to wait until the Pro Day’s and NFL Combine’s to get the full analysis of these prospects. This year  the first overall pick belongs to Kansas City. New head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey they will have some pressure on them especially since there is no clear-cut number one prospect or franchise changer. However there is a load of talent in this draft it is very deep at positions like defensive line, offensive tackle, and tight end as well. At 2-14 last year the Chiefs are looking to improve right away with a  coach that’s a proven winner and a roster that possessed five pro bowlers this past season, things can only get better. In the big five I will be listing the five things that Kansas City should and very well could do in late April with the first overall pick. 5. Take Star Lotulelei. Lotulelei has the potential to live up to his name in the NFL right away. The 6’4 325 pound monster out of Utah is one of the top defensive tackle prospects to enter the draft in the past five years. The Chiefs can transition him to a one-gap 3-4 defensive end and team him up with Dontari Poe, last year’s first round pick. 4. Take Damontre Moore. The 6’4 250 Texas A&M stud is a hybrid DE/OLB and by many considered the best one of this 2013 draft. Bjoern Werner is also a top 5 potential pick and plays the same position but Moore is the better prospect. KC and new DC Bob Sutton could plug Moore right in with no problem and his upside as a pass rusher is very high. With Moore’s quick first step, football IQ and burst he is worthy of this pick. 3.Trade for more picks.(Move Down) This draft isn’t considered to be very top-heavy at all, but all it takes is one team to fall in love with a player after the combine and pro day. KC has more than one or two needs, one of those glaring needs is at quarterback. With Dwayne Bowe and Branden Albert’s contracts being up they may test free agency.  Defensive Line is also a need, mainly a pass rusher. Trades are hard to evaluate and predict but Arizona, San Francisco, Dallas, STL, and Oakland could be wildcards. 2.Take a QB. You didn’t think I could write an article about the NFL draft and not talk about QB’s right? 13 quarterbacks have been taken 1 overall since Drew Bledsoe in 1993, 20 years ago. Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson, Matt Barkley, Mike Glennon and Ryan Nassib are all talented and worth a 1st rd grade. Neither of them are worth a top 5 pick. I believe Tyler Wilson and Matt Barkley are the best two at the position, but Geno Smith is the top QB on most draft boards currently. Andy Reid, as we all know, loves working with QB’s and is very good at the development of young QB’s. He still has Matt Cassell who has under performed his contract so far but has hope working with a guy like coach Reid. Signing a free agent is also something they will look at but like the QB’s in draft the pool of F/A quarterbacks are limited. I believe at some point they will take a quarterback and sign one. A face of the franchise is what they need. 1. Take Luke Joeckel. Lets be clear again it’s not the best year to have this pick at No.1 but this is a no brainer for me. If he has a solid pro day and combine Joeckel would be the best fit for KC. The pros of drafting him are saving money and most likely upgrading at the position for the next 8-10 years. Albert’s asking price is very high and you would save cap space so Reid and the front office could fill their depth chart. LT is cornerstone of any offense especially a passing offense, the 6’6 310 Joeckel is an elite pass protector, has high athleticism and very great footwork.
