The Kansas City Chiefs fired GM Scott Pioli on Friday. Reports have indicated that the decision was “mutual,” but I’m sure that Pioli’s first choice was to remain employed, considering that GM’s rarely get another go of things after being let go. “There is no way to overstate the level of respect and admiration I have for Scott on a personal level,” said owner Clark Hunt in a statement. Hunt was probably Pioli’s biggest supporter, but now that Andy Reid looks to be on his way to Kansas City, he has to appease his new coach. Packers executive John Dorsey looks to be the favorite to replace Pioli as the Chiefs next GM. The results were terrible in 2012, but Pioli did build a strong unit minus the quarterback position. This issue tends to cost a number of coaches and GM’s alike their jobs, but those around the league seem to think that Pioli has a shot of catching on somewhere in the coming months.
