According to ESPN’s Bill Williamson, the Kansas City Chiefs have restructured defensive end Tyson Jackson’s contract. The Chiefs and Jackson had to get this done since he had a $17.4 million cap number for 2013.  They need to extra money to create more room under this year’s salary cap.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefo...

Chiefs 2013 NFL mock draft: Andy Reid trades down

For the new look Kansas City Chiefs under Andy Reid, the number one priority was to find a franchise quarterback. The Chiefs knew they needed to upgrade the position from Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn and did so by bringing over Alex Smith. The Chiefs also were able to provide Smith with a top notch wide receiver in Dwayne Bowe who was given a 5-year contract to stay in K.C. With...

The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy this off season, can they do enough to contend in the AFC West?

The Chiefs, who are coming off a team worst 2-14 record in team history (tying 2008) evidently have had enough by making several key moves this off season in hopes to get back and compete for the AFC West title and get back into the playoffs Kansas City owner Clark Hunt started by replacing Vice President and General Manager Scott Pioli (resigned) and head Coach Romeo Crennel ...

Chiefs make Dustin Colquitt the highest paid punter

The Kansas City Chiefs were really busy today.  They signed wide receiver Dwayne Bowe to a five-year deal and used the franchise tag on tackle Brandon Albert.  And they didn’t stop there. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs also signed punter Dustin Colquitt to a contract extension that makes him the highest paid punter in NFL history. Dustin Colquitt is now highest...

Kansas City Chiefs cut OT Eric Winston

I don’t normally talk about teams cutting players, but this one is a big deal. Just two day after franchising left tackle Branden Albert, the Chiefs have cut right tackle Eric Winston. The first thing this means is that the Chiefs are almost definitely locked into one of two offensive tackles, Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel or Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher, #1 overall. Cutting...

Dwayne Bowe Now Third Highest Paid Wide Receiver In NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs locked up wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on Monday with a five-year, $56 million contract which certainly brought a smile to the face of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace, who will be an unrestricted free agent one week from the today. PFT has the details of the contract signed by Bowe and I have it formatted out below along with the cap charges...

Chiefs Dustin Colquitt Highest Paid Punter of All-Time; 5 Yrs $18.75 Mil, $8.9 Mil Guaranteed

I have said thing for a long time, if you can live with less groupies and you are not an attention *****, Punter is one of the best professions in all the world. The only two things you can do wrong as a punter is dropped the ball or shank the kick. That rarely happens, so for the most part you are getting all the perks of being a NFL player, without worrying about be responsible...

Kansas City Chiefs Sign Bowe to 5 Year Deal

I’m unhappy to report that up and coming free agent Dwayne Bowe will not be in a Patriots uniform next season. I have been singing Bowe’s praises hoping, for once, that the Patriots would make a big time move in free agency. Of course Dwayne Bowe was extended 5 years today by the Chiefs before he ever hit free agency, but it still stings. Chiefs didn't use tag on WR Dwayne...

Chiefs Sign WR Dwayne Bowe to 5 Year Contract

Most people thought the Chiefs would let Bowe hit free agency, but with a new QB in Alex Smith and new head coach in Andy Reid, they decided to keep him in the fold. Chiefs didn’t use tag on WR Dwayne Bowe because they didn’t have to. Chiefs and Bowe have reached agreement on a five-year deal. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 4, 2013

Kansas City Chiefs Could Make History With No.1 Overall Pick

BY J.P. SCOTT ON MARCH 6, 2013 Despite finishing with the worst record in the NFL in 2012, the Kansas City Chiefs headed into the 2013 offseason with a limited number of needs. Perhaps the most pressing need was stability at the quarterback position, which was taken care of with the acquisition of Alex Smith. This all but ruled out the possibility that the Chiefs will take a quarterback...

Chiefs Lock up a Pair

With the NFL deadline looming Monday to name a franchise player, the Kansas City Chiefs were very busy signing two of their own free agents and placing the franchise tag on another.

Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace are sitting somewhere wondering when their turn will come.  Percy Harvin now has a measuring stick for his new deal. Yesterday we reported that Dwayne Bowe and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a new 5 year deal.  Today the numbers of that deal have been released, and they indeed will have a trickle down effect.
