Chiefs head coach Todd Haley confirmed this week that RB Thomas Jones would return in 2011. Jones, who will be 33 at the start of the season, said after Kansas City's playoff loss that he'd have to evaluate his career before committing to a return, but according to Haley, a choice has been made. "I couldnt be more excited about what Thomas Jones has brought to this team both as a player and as a leader, Haley told the Kansas City Star. "Hes the epitome of the same guy every day. Weve got a little plan for Thomas that Im excited about getting to. Im excited to have Thomas back. Hes a big part of what were doing." Jones slowed down in 2010, averaging an ugly 3.7 yards per carry over 245 carries (896 rush yards) and six touchdowns. Jones gives Kansas City a reliable back to use in tandem with superstar Jamaal Charles, but his play tailed off last year (one TD in his last six games, no 100-yard games in his last 10) and his career carry numbers hitting a mark where rushers typically decline (2,525 career carries).
