Peter King of SI.com believed the Chiefs ”will listen” to trade offers for OT Branden Albert. Albert, 28, received the Chiefs franchise tag a few weeks ago and is set to make a $9.83 million for the upcoming season. Recent reports have suggested that the Chiefs were hoping to work out a long-term deal with Albert, but the fact that they recently released RT Eric Winston suggests that they’re keeping their options open regarding where he’ll be playing next season. Albert has said multiple times that he has no intention to move to guard or right tackle, but many around the league believe there’s a good chance they draft Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel with the No. 1 overall pick. The addition of Joeckel could force them to move Albert to right tackle, which in turn could have a negative impact on his market value come next offseason. A trade seems like a possibility, depending on what they choose to do with their first-round pick, but it’s hard to speculate as to what the Chiefs could get in return for him at this point. The Lions could really use an offensive tackle after Jeff Backus retired and they lost Gosder Cherilus to the Colts, so they could be a potential option if the Chiefs are in fact willing to trade Albert.
