Chiefs WR Justyn Ross out for rookie season due to foot injury

Kansas City Chiefs fans are going to have to wait a whole year before they can see Justyn Ross take the gridiron, as the rookie wide receiver was officially ruled out for the entire 2022 season with an ongoing foot injury that he recently had surgery on.

The 22-year-old Clemson product injured his foot last November while playing college ball and had surgery on it then. He had to have a second surgery this last week and was placed on the Chiefs' PUP list at the start of training camp.

"It was a little bit off of the surgery he had before. It wasn’t functioning quite the way [he wanted]," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Friday, via Sports Illustrated. "It was bothering him. It wasn’t working quite the way he wanted it, so they went in and re-did it. And we’re hoping this works out well."

The wait time to suit up for his first NFL game will have to wait another calendar year.

Ross missed the final three games of his college career because he aggravated the foot injury. Prior to that, he missed the entire 2020 season due to a congenital fusion condition that required surgery on his neck and spine.
