Starting quarterback Christian Ponder was 20-27 with 270 yards in the Minnesota Vikings overtime thriller against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, since Adrian Peterson's return to the team was so triumphant and he broke the Vikings' all-time rushing record, not many realized how well Ponder played.
Ponder started off the game quite poorly. He misread his receivers routes and was under throwing them. Ponder was hearing it from the crowd and it was obvious. However, after a 3-7 start, Ponder completed 17 of his next 20 passes to finish out the game. Ponder had a very quiet game, but was incredibly efficient. Ponder's passer rating was 105.5, and his quarterback rating was 66.9. Ponder's passer rating ranked in the top ten and out passed elite quarterbacks such as Aaron Rodgers (93.3) and Drew Brees (70.9).
Some people say that there is cause for concern because he didn't throw a touchdown. Put yourself in Ponder's shoes. You have quite pos...

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. All the talk of improvement and growth this offseason for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder finally gave way last week to a chance to prove it in a regular-season game.Ponder came through with his most efficient game in his 11th career start. He was 20 of 27 passing for 270 yards. He didn't throw a touchdown, but he also avoided interceptions...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Christian Ponder said he never felt as if Sunday's game was out of reach, even after the Minnesota Vikings had allowed the Jacksonville Jaguars to take a 23-20 lead with 27 seconds left.
Ponder, Minnesota's second-year quarterback, knew he was going to get the ball back with one more chance, even if a season-opening win looked unlikely. A year ago, the...
Christian Ponder’s efficiency turned around when the Vikings went to a no-huddle offense. Plus, several former Vikings were drawing interest around the league.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson said he experienced some tightness in his surgically repaired knee after his first game in more than eight months, but he was feeling better Thursday and ready for a bigger workload this week.
Peterson, who said the knee felt really loose after the game, said he dealt with some soreness Tuesday, but after treatment, he believes he'll be ready...
After Sunday’s close win over the Jaguars, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson told the media that he feels good and he’s ready to go for the season after rushing for over 80 yards and 2 touchdowns in a limited role on Sunday.
“My legs are loose. Seriously, I’m feeling really good. I’m ready to carry the load,” Peterson said.
I wonder if I’m the only one who’s skeptical...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson's left leg was untested, in the truest sense. Last December 24 the Vikings' All-Pro running back shredded two ligaments in his left knee. In the eight-plus months since surgery he had pledged to be right here, right now. But would he be the same? Blair Walsh's right leg was untested, at least professionally. The rookie placekicker was...
The Vikings saw what Adrian Peterson could do in his return to game action, but what will the plan be going forward? They still don’t expect him to go “All Day” just yet.
What a great opening week in the NFL; there were so many great performances that were expected and some that were not expected. Here are three of the performances that amazed or failed to amaze in Week 1.Adrian Peterson - Minnesota VikingsThis guy made me eat my words and choke on them. I refused to consider Peterson in the top 10 RBs, or even the top 20 RBs to start this week...
My observations from week one are a bit more harried than usual as I was preoccupied during the early games, but, I’ve got some thoughts bulleted below as per usual. The Patriots were a blink away from winning the SuperBowl last year. This year with D (the rookies had a big impact on the contest [...]

The Headline: Vikings top the Jaguars in the first regular season test of the new overtime rules.
Two quarterbacks who struggled last year as rookies made great starts to their sophomore campaigns by having impressive if unspectacular games. Christian Ponder looked good for the Vikings going 20/27 on the way to 270 yards and while...
From Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson and Stephen Hill to Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson, we thought we knew what was going to happen during Week 1 of the NFL season. The first Sunday of the NFL season has finally come and gone. While many of us believed we knew what was going to happen, the results were normal for the first week, completely off from what we thought.
