The Cincinnati Bengals have cut starting center Kyle Cook. This news came Tuesday afternoon in the midst of free agency chaos. The 6’3, 310 pound offensive lineman started all 16 games for Cincinnati in 2013. Cook’s release was a salary cap move by the Bengals, who obviously have the bigger picture in mind, clearing a reported $2.5M in salary cap space.   Though it has not been made official, Mike Pollak is primed to be Cincinnati’s starting center in 2014. Pollak, a combination guard-center, was re-signed by the Bengals last week. The Arizona State product was one of Marvin Lewis and company’s top free agency priorities, his versatility being the number one reason. Mike Pollak split his reps at the guard and center positions. But with the release of Cook, Pollak becomes the clear favorite to takeover the vacant starting center position for Cincinnati.   This was no doubt a well thought out plan by the Bengals, which they executed to perfection. Not only freeing up more than two million dollars in cap room, but ultimately keeping an important asset going into 2014.
