And just like that the Alex Tanney “trick-shot” era is over in Dallas. The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Alex Tanney to their active roster Tuesday from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad, according to a source. Tanney caught the imagination of the Cowboys’ fans during training camp and Dallas kept him on its practice squad this season as a way to develop the quarterback for the future. However, Cleveland has an immediate need for a quarterback and plucked him off the Cowboys’ practice squad. Tanney was sacked seven times in the Cowboys’ final preseason game against Houston and completed 17-of-31 passes for 177 yards with an interception. For the preseason, Tanney completed 40-of-73 passes for 423 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. The Cowboys made Tanney one of their final cuts out of training camp in late August. Tanney tweeted Tuesday morning, “Thankful for everything the Jones family and Dallas staff has done for me. Great organization. New chapter starts in...

Dallas Cowboys’ Week 13 Preview: How to beat the Raiders

It’s almost laughable to think the Dallas Cowboys will have issues beating one of the long-lost franchises in the NFL, but the Oakland Raiders will provide a bigger challenge than in years past. Head Coach Dennis Allen and General Manager Reggie McKenzie constructed a 4-7 football team with over 55 million dollars in dead money. In other words, this is a team and organization...

Dallas Cowboys sign former Saints draft pick Martez Wilson

Today the Dallas Cowboys signed another defender in Martez Wilson. Wilson is a genetic freak, is a great athlete with amazing skills. He has not translated well to the NFL unfortunately though. The Cowboys will work him out and try him at the outside linebacker defensive end position. @clarencehilljr: The Cowboys signed DE Martez Wilson. […]

Tony Romo lands on SI cover: Can a player succumb to the ‘SI Cover Jinx’ if he’s already jinxed?

It was revealed on Wednesday that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is the cover boy of the Dec. 2 issue of Sports Illustrated. An interesting choice. Sure, the Cowboys are 6-5 and currently are tied with the Phildelphia Eagles for first place in the NFC East. Add that to the fact that the Cowboys — […]The post Tony Romo lands on SI cover: Can a player succumb to the ‘SI...

Greatest Thanksgiving games in Dallas Cowboys’ history

Thanksgiving and football are an annual tradition in America, but so is the Dallas Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving Day. America’s team has played on Thanksgiving 45 times since the 1966 season and have a combined record of 28-16-1 historically on the day. However, there have been many memorable games played in this annual classic, and there are about five that stick out as the...

With Claiborne Ailing, CB Moore To Sign; TE Waived

The Cowboys have brought back a player that seemingly had a good training camp but has been on the street for the entire season. Sterling Moore rejoins the Cowboys this week and will likely play against the Raiders Thursday. Once again, cornerback Morris Claiborne has a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the Thanksgiving Day game. To make room for Moore, the Cowboys have...

With his receivers healthy and facing Oakland traveling on a short week, Tony Romo is a top 5 QB (Week 13 Fantasy Ranks)

It is ugly at the top of the QB ranks. From a matchup standpoint, there isn’t a QB I would typically rank in my weekly top 12 facing a defense in the 8 most generous in the league. The first is Romo at 9 against Oakland and that’s why you see him coming in at number four this week. If you count Scott Tolzein and Matt Flynn as some kind of terrifying, back-up QB Frankenstein the...

Dallas Cowboys: Romo-Coaster Soars

Romo walks off the field after Sunday’s game winning drive Admit it. Until Tony Romo takes the Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl, he’ll always be judged as incapable in the clutch. How many fans and spectators had the thought of all Romo’s game-changing interceptions and miscues in mind when he took the field in a tie game with 4:45 to play Sunday. Many were playing out situations...

Cowboys' Murray accepts critique after easing up

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By SCHUYLER DIXON AP Sports Writer DeMarco Murray sped into the open field around right end, with a choice of taking on a defender or drifting toward the sideline. So many times in his career, the bruising Dallas running back has turned up field and lowered his head. But not on this particular play Sunday against the New York Giants. Murray easing up as he...

Cowboys beat the Giants in a tight, but bloodless game despite promise from Jason Pierre-Paul

Looking for the best Dallas Cowboys blog? Look no further. You found it. Congratulations! Silver and BlueBlood - The Essential Dallas Cowboys Blog | Totally Biased * Highly Opinionated * UnapologeticIs that blood? Before the Cowboys-Giants game on Sunday, Jason Pierre-Paul—another sports dude with a hyphenated last name, which is just weird, since that is a designation historically...

What Beating the Giants Means for the Cowboys

Admittedly, I was a little surprised. I have loudly proclaimed that the Cowboys are the NFL’s most average team, if there is such a thing, and that 8-8 was a familiar road for this group of players.Slightly moved off of that position, the emphases strongly placed on slightly, the Cowboys actually won a game they needed to win. They beat a division rival, played good football down...

Cowboys Orlando Scandrick lights up Giants for pregame trash talk

Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick was taking notes last week as the trash talk began in anticipation of Sunday’s match up against the New York Giants.  Following the Cowboys’ 24-21 victory, Scandrick let all he’s feelings out about the commentary from Mike Ditka and Jason Pierre-Paul. “Jason Pierre-Paul was like, ‘There will be bloodshed.’ C’mon, man,” Scandrick said...

A Set of Hands During Clinch Moments

ESPN Dallas reporter Jean-Jaques Taylor shares many of this writer’s sentiments about wide-receiver Dez Bryant. Taylor feels that Dez Bryant should be “Bryant is the epicenter of the offense during the final five regular-season games because he's their most dynamic offensive player, the one dude capable of changing the entire complexion of a game with one play.” Taylor...

Orlando Scandrick, Jason Hatcher blast Giants after win

We heard a lot of talk from the New York Giants throughout the week last week. For the most part, the Dallas Cowboys took the high road. Jason Garrett’s team decided to do its talking on the field, and Dallas came away with a huge win on the road against their biggest rival. Naturally, some […]

Cowboys Pull The Plug On The Giants' Season: 5 Things We Learned

The Dallas Cowboys went into East Rutherford, New Jersey, and ruined the brash New York Giants' season on Sunday, winning 24-21. The Giants didn't do themselves any favors by yapping to the media all week about how sure they were about themselves and it came back and bit them. Let's take a look at what we learned and what was solidified after the game:1. New York’s...

NFC East Playoff Outlook

Welcome back to the Eagles season. Since we last saw our Birds, they were sitting in first place in the NFC East. So, where are we now after a week off to watch the NFL? Second place in the NFC East. Damn. In case you missed it, Tony Romo was able to lead the Dallas Cowboys down the field to beat the New York Giants by a field goal. The Cowboys, and NOT the Eagles, control their...
