San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick set records in his team’s 45-31 win over the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs on Saturday, and he also inspired a social media trend.

The second-year player has been celebrating his touchdowns with a kiss on his biceps (seen above). After his outstanding performance Saturday — he rushed for 181 yards (a quarterback record), two touchdowns, and threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns — many Niners fans began following his lead by imitating the celebration.

Much like “Tebowing” and “Griffining,” “Kaepernicking” has become a social media trend.

Kaepernick’s celebration isn’t exactly unique. As USA Today points out, wrestler Scott Steiner has been doing it for years. Even Metta World Peace has done it a few times in the past. But Kaepernick has done it on the biggest stage, so he is the one receiving the naming honors.

  • They beleive and winning is all about believeing. The PAck didn't look like they believed in themselves at all in the second half and stopped fighting. Great book I'm reading called HARD WIRED sums it up pretty well. Found it on Amazon.

  • You might want to rethink that. It was the falcons that ALMOST choked on their own feathers. After all they WERE ahead by 20 points in the third quarter, and should have won by at THE VERY LEAST, 10 points. They had a blowout going, and COULD NOT seal the deal. AND THAT is NOT redemption. He barely beat a team that he should have blown off the field!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kaepernick is going to the super bowl this year. The Atlanta falcons CAN NOT handle SAN FRAN head to head. I'm going to stick my neck out here, and say Matt Ryan will be picked off at least twice in this game, and that will be the difference. The forty niners should win by AT LEAST 10, and probably more. But that's just my humble opinion.
