From Larry Brown Sports:

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick set records in his team’s 45-31 win over the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs on Saturday, and he also inspired a social media trend.

The second-year player has been celebrating his touchdowns with a kiss on his biceps (seen above). After his outstanding performance Saturday — he rushed for 181 yards (a quarterback record), two touchdowns, and threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns — many Niners fans began following his lead by imitating the celebration.

Much like “Tebowing” and “Griffining,” “Kaepernicking” has become a social media trend.

Kaepernick’s celebration isn’t exactly unique. As USA Today points out, wrestler Scott Steiner has been doing it for years. Even Metta World Peace has done it a few times in the past. But Kaepernick has done it on the biggest stage, so he is the one receiving the naming honors.

  • Looks like a deoderant commercial
  • I hope they aren't trying to say that he came up with this. Professional wrestlers have been doing it for decades...and looking just as silly.
  • DID YOU SAY THE SAME **** ABOUT tEBOW! BC BLACK ATHELETES BEEN DOING WHAT THT PUNK TEBOW IS COPYING!
  • SMELLFING?
  • lol..the Niner organization can never be original always biting others.. Lol...kapernicking, gmab. What a joke. Wait til his overrated offense gets killed.
  • LOLOLOLOL, yea, that whole west coast offense thing, it was the rest of the NFL that created that & Bill Walsh "bit" it off them...hahahaha.
  • Kap is kissing his tattoos.........you know, the ones some stupid sports writer made a big deal about. Quarterbacks shouldn't have tattoos...HA!!!!.....well this one does and he kicked some Packer a$$ Saturday.
  • true on that
  • They beleive and winning is all about believeing. The PAck didn't look like they believed in themselves at all in the second half and stopped fighting. Great book I'm reading called HARD WIRED sums it up pretty well. Found it on Amazon.
  • When are you haters EVER going to accept it,SanFran on its way back.Seattle fans, heres a grossly calculated statement,YOU BEAT THE DEADSKINS BECAUSE RG3 COULDNT EVEN WALK,LET ALONE COMPLETE A PASS!!!!!!!congrats, you beat a mortally wounded team. When it came to a completely balanced team, choked on your own feathers!!
  • You might want to rethink that. It was the falcons that ALMOST choked on their own feathers. After all they WERE ahead by 20 points in the third quarter, and should have won by at THE VERY LEAST, 10 points. They had a blowout going, and COULD NOT seal the deal. AND THAT is NOT redemption. He barely beat a team that he should have blown off the field!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I love the thug wannabe QB. He's darn good, but needs to keep his mouth closed, as he comes across about as smart as one of the Kardashians.
  • so why do you think he is a thug wannabe
  • I have the great pleasure of being a Jets and Eagles fan, but you sir are letting that green dragon show it's ugly head. Wish the young man all the luck in the world! This was the best playoff weekend ever! Next week looks to be a shootout weekend.
  • amen flojoe!
  • Kaepernick has turned into the Deadliest Running QB in the NFL! And He's WHITE!
  • Is he white?
  • actually kaepernick is biracial african american and caucasian
  • Sorry it does look silly! You can't tell me he doesn't use steroids come on guys!
  • Really? Awful lot of celebrating for a player, and team, who hasn't won anything yet.
  • Kaepernick is going to the super bowl this year. The Atlanta falcons CAN NOT handle SAN FRAN head to head. I'm going to stick my neck out here, and say Matt Ryan will be picked off at least twice in this game, and that will be the difference. The forty niners should win by AT LEAST 10, and probably more. But that's just my humble opinion.
  • Sitting here in the ATL as a San Fran Fan, wondering how much stuff will I get throwed at me during the week...LOL...Bet not be on thing throwed at me because I will throw back. Anyway Rise Up Falcons, becuase you all are going to get Kaepernicked... LOL...STANKING UP KAEPERNICKING....GO 9ERS
