The Colts parted ways with Peyton Manning in the offseason, then selected Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and by going with Luck, the team has made it back to the playoffs. Luck's 7-yard TD pass to Reggie Wayne with 4:08 remaining lifted Indianapolis over the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-13, and the Colts locked up a playoff spot. Luck completed 17-of-35 passes for 205 yards for the Colts (10-5), who have won four of five and hold the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs. The Stanford product broke Cam Newton's single-season rookie passing record late in the second quarter with 23-yard pass to fellow rookie T.Y. Hilton. Wayne caught five passes for 81 yards for Indianapolis, which plays the Texans next week to end the regular season. Source: Sports Network

Luck needed just 74 yards to pass the record heading into Sunday afternoon. Luck passed the mark on a 23-yard pass to fellow rookie T.Y. Hilton with just under a minute remaining in the first half. Andrew Luck breaks rookie passing yards record

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck added another notch on his resume Sunday. Luck broke the single season record for passing yards by a rookie quarterback. The record had been set last season by Carolina’s Cam Newton with 4,051 yards. Newton set the record in 16 games, Luck broke the record just before halftime of his 15th game.

Colts beat Chiefs 20-13 to clinch playoff berth

Andrew Luck couldn't help but smile thinking about the joyous celebration taking place just down the hall, through the big metal doors marking the entrance to the Colts' locker room. Even interim coach Bruce Arians had been dancing. ''It's a fun locker room, a great locker room,'' Luck said after leading Indianapolis to a 20-13 victory over Kansas City...

Colts' Luck sets NFL's rookie record

The expectations placed upon Andrew Luck almost seemed unfair. Being the heir to Peyton Manning in Indianapolis is heady stuff for a rookie taking the reins of a franchise that won two games last season. Now, after guiding the Colts back to the playoffs, and breaking Cam Newton's single-season passing record for a first-year player, it's safe to say Luck exceeded just about...

As Luck Would Have It

Andrew Luck, of the Indianapolis Colts, the new rookie record holder for most yards thrown by a rookie, also proved to hold the doom card of the KC Chiefs on this final Sunday of the 2012 season at Arrowhead Stadium.

Bengals, Colts grab final AFC playoff spots

One year after putting together the NFL's worst record, the Indianapolis Colts are headed to the playoffs. Joining them on Sunday were the Cincinnati Bengals, finishing out the field in the AFC. The Colts (10-5) equaled the 2008 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to win at least 10 games after losing 14 or more the previous season. Top overall draft pick Andrew Luck completed a...

Eliminate the Suicide Week 16 – Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, Peyton Manning Nipping on your End Zone

What do Kevin Kolb, Brandon Weeden, Charlie Batch, Nick Foles, and Ryan Lindley have in common?  They are all signs that the apocalypse is coming. I kid, I kid.  They have all sent me defeats in the 2012 NFL season.  Just goes to show you that this game we call American Football is one wild and wacky creation.  I have yet to start my Christmas shopping, so to avoid buying everyone...

Playoffs

At the beginning of the season, after the disaster that was last year, I said that I would be happy if the Colts won 5-6 games this year. The team is in the playoffs now, and I am completely blown away. Andrew Luck has been good, but the team has been so much more than that. His receivers, especially Reggie Wayne, have been very good, the defense has improved, the offensive line...

MVP: Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, and Adrian Peterson are all quality candidates, but Manning proved...

Broncos, Manning await battered Browns

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Preparing to play Peyton Manning was challenging enough for the Cleveland Browns even before losing three more starters. Coach Pat Shurmur said Friday that wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, tight end Jordan Cameron and defensive back Tashaun Gipson will not travel to Denver to play the Broncos (11-3). With playoff hopes dashed and a losing season assured, the Browns...

#TheLaMorteReport NYG Short Memories @JLaMorte21

The New York Football Giants look like they once again forgot that nothing is handed to you, especially in the NFL! This time it looks to be too late, needing a win against Philly, a Cowboy loss to Wash, Green Bay to beat Minnesota, and the Bears to fall to a Lions team that cannot get out of it’s own way, just to make the playoffs. It was just last season where they were...
