Ryan Grigson is not one to take the "wait and see" approach.

After the multiple new cornerback signings and trade acquisitions failed to produce any different results in the first two preseason games, the Colts traded an undisclosed (but fixed, the pick is not conditional) 2014 draft pick for CB Josh Gordy of th St. Louis Rams

Gordy was an undrafted free agent in 2010, and in 2011 was promoted to St. Louis' active roster from the practice squad. According to pre-draft scouting reports Gordy doesn't have elite speed, but has decent coverage skills and hands, and can have a propensity for big hits. According to Rams' beat writer Jim Thomas, Gordy is "feisty, good speed, a bit undersized, not a great tackler."

Thomas does note, however, that Gordy was in the mix for playing time in St. Louis, and had received some time with the first string defense as the nickel cornerback. Alex Marvez has also been impressed with Gordy's preseason,  and Gordy will very much be in the mix for an important spot in the cornerback rotation.

In order to make room for Gordy on the roster, the Colts cut linebacker Larry Lumpkin, who has been fairly invisible this preseason.
