Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady and Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck At first, it was just like the old days…a shootout at Foxborough between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.  But, then came the second half and…not so much.  Come on…did we really think we were going to march into Gillette Stadium with our shiny, new quarterback and lovable team and roll right over the Patriots? Nice thought.  But it was wishful thinking, at best.  Instead, we marched out…put up our best fight (at least for a half), then made some costly mistakes and allowed the Patriot army to march all over us.  We didn’t roll over though.  We didn’t play dead.  We didn’t turn around and run the other way.  Our guys kept fighting and never gave up…even at 52-24…heck, even at 59-24.  The Colts never threw in the towel…never waved the white flag. “You can learn little from victory. You can learn everything from defeat.” – Christy Mathewson It’s true.  Victories energize, reinforce, motivate.  But losses, and how you recover from them, are what make you.  They are a necessary part of success.  An important part of success.  While success builds you up, losing breaks you down…then forces you to build yourself back up.  And in the process, makes you stronger than you were before. Our Colts will regroup, review, recover.  And then, later this week…they will rally again.  Because that’s who they are.  And they’re becoming something more.  Something stronger. No, we didn’t beat the Patriots.  But now, the Colts know what that entails.  They have seen what it will take to overcome the Captain Tom Brady, the Iron Curtain Patriot defense, and their General, Bill Belichick.  And they will spend the weeks, months, and years ahead preparing to do so. Let the Patriots revel in their glory, then rest in their honor.  Because one day, when they least expect it…the Colts will march into Foxborough, take Gillette Stadium by storm, and defeat the New England Patriots once again. And then, the Colts can thank them…for making them who they are.  Starting with that 59-24 loss on November 18, 2012. The post Colts v. Patriots Volume II Chapter 1: Better Luck Next Time appeared first on The Blue Mare.
