Could this "rumor" be true?

Chad Ocho Cinco In Midnight Green? PDF Print E-mail Written by Garry Cobb Wednesday, 08 April 2009 Couldn't you see it now, Ocho Cinco on the back of the Eagles midnight green jersey? ESPN's Michael Smith says that the wide receiver formerly known as Chad Johnson is on the market and the Eagles could be a suitor.

Smith brought up the scenario last night on NFL Live. He said matter of factly that Chad was available, which is a story that has been reported throughout the off season He then tied in the Eagles since they are one of the teams looking for a number one receiver.

Remember it was Smith who learned from a source close to McNabb that the vetaran quarterback and the Eagles had met this off season to discuss the benching at halftime of the Baltimore game and a possible contract extension.

Could it really be something? I can't say for sure but you can be certain that come Friday April 24th. the Eagles will be on the phone with their 12 picks and a former starting receiver, Reggie Brown, readily available.

They do know what a big time addition at the wide receiver position would do for them, but it's understandable that they wouldn't be out screaming it in public.

Ocho Cinco would be a great get for the Birds because he would put defenses in a can't win situation. If they were to double Ocho Cinco, DeSean Jackson would torch them outside. Kevin Curtis working in the slot with Jason Avant would resemble what Wes Welker does in New England..

It would play into Donovan McNabb ability to throw the ball downfield. There's no way a team could move defenders into the box to stop Brian Westbrook and the running back that the Eagles are going to draft.

The other thing that would be great about the move is the fact Ocho Cinco is a Diva but not a destructive one like Terrell Owens. Ocho would make things a lot more fun without putting a knife into McNabb and his teammates.

The Birds would get the great receiver for a discount which makes him more attractive for them.

If there's a reason it will never happen, it would be the fact that he wants a new contract could be a major problem. You know the folks over at the Nova Care complex do not want to give out another big contract.

Trades are still rare in the NFL but they do happen just before and during the draft.

Chad On The Sideline

Ocho Cinco likes to clown around and McNabb likes to clown around. Remember that the Bengals wide out jumped into an Eagles pre-game passing drill and McNabb threw the ball to him.

I don't know which one of them likes to clown around the most. Could you imagine how silly they could get on the sideline when McNabb gets in one of his silly moods? They'll have to put them in the upcoming Three Stooges movie.
