At long last, Saints multi-talented WR Courtney Roby is finally getting the recognition he deserves. On Thursday, he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

The dynamic kickoff return man is currently averaging an impressive 25.8 yards on nine returns, earning him a tenth ranking in the league. He also leads the team with five special teams tackles and he had the critical fumble recovery which ultimately led to the score that catapulted the Saints to victory over the 49ers. Equally as impressive as his stellar performance was his gracious reaction to the award. He had this to say:

“It’s definitely humbling, and it’s definitely a blessing. And I’m just excited. We work so hard collectively as a group, as a special teams corps, day in and say out. So just to have that recognition is definitely humbling. … And it’s only the beginning as the corps.”

Speaking of the corps, the Saints special teams coverage unit currently ranks 5th in the league in both kickoff and punt return coverages, laying to rest (at least for now) any concerns about lingering deficiencies in that area.

Congratulations, Courtney Roby on being named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
