Found November 11, 2012 on Philly Sports Nut:
The last three weeks have been do or die type of games for the Philadelphia Eagles. In those three games, the Eagles have given up at least 28 points in all three games and failed to score at least 24 points in all three games. The Philadelphia Eagles were once 3-1 this season, so it’s fitting that the Eagles were up 17-10 late in the third quarter in a game they had to have. This game perfectly summed up the Eagles season. The Dallas Cowboys scored on a interception return, a fumble return and a punt return for a touchdown. After a long and punishing first drive by the Cowboys, the Eagles defense played pretty well. They recorded three sacks and held Tony Romo to just 209 yards and just 47 yards on eight catches by Jason Witten. The Eagles started the game off well with a masterful 10 play, 81 yard drive capped off with a fade route by Riley Cooper that went for a touchdown. The defense followed that up by giving up a 13 play, 80 drive from the Cowboys that was capped off with a Felix Jones touchdown. From then on the Eagles offense was inconsistent until Vick went out with a concussion in the second quarter, while the defense battled hard. The Eagles are now 3-6 and have lost five straight games for the first time under head coach Andy Reid and the first time since the 1998 season, the last season a Eagles head coach was fired. Reid is just two losses away from eight, which was the number Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said would not be good enough to save his job. The Eagles, Andy Reid’s only hope to save the season is to win out, or at least win six of their final seven remaining games. Reid said after the game that he believes it is possible. That makes one of us. Right now the Eagles can’t focus on getting back into the playoff race. They have to focus on just winning another game. Cue Jim Mora Sr. The Eagles take their show on the road next Sunday to take on a well rest Washington Redskins team coming off their bye week. One more loss would probably put a fork in their season. 3-6 is bad, 3-7 is season ending. One more loss and Eagles fans can start the countdown to the end of the Andy Reid era and the search for a new head coach in Philly.
