The wheels are in motion in Dallas, the Cowboys have officially signed CB Brandon Carr to a 5yr/$51 million deal, and they have added a new FB in Lawrence Vickers. Now, we’re talking. Carr upgrades the secondary instantly, and gives us a physical presence as well. Next on the list should be the safety position. Vickers is a blocking fullback who has had great success in Cleveland and Houston for opening holes for starting running back, so this is a great pickup. I like what the Cowboys are doing now. Good moves across the board.

Less Than Commemorative Endings for Williams and Newman

The Cowboys released Terence Newman on Tuesday. The Dallas Cowboys began their rebuilding process in the early 2000s with high first-round draft picks in 2002 and 2003.  In both drafts, the Cowboys stuck with the Big XII Conference, taking safety Roy Williams of Oklahoma in 2002 and cornerback Terence Newman of Kansas State in 2003. Williams was an immediate hit, making five...

Tony Romo played some indoor soccer

Guess we can now pencil in Tony Romo to be playing indoor soccer on Monday nights somewhere in Texas. Adjust your paparazzi schedule accordingly, fools. BC tipster Troy sent word that Tony was up to his normal offseason routine so we had our eyes open this morning for Tony ripping shots on some goalie who spends his days working in commercial real estate. Yep, Tony played soccer...

Doug Free, Orlando Scandrick Re-Work Contracts To Free Up Under $8.6M

Two procedural moves have freed up an additional $8.6 million for the Cowboys to use in free agency. Neither move comes as a surprise. The club has restructred the contracts of offensive tackle Doug Free and cornerback Orlando Scandrick. Both players signed extensions heading into last season. Both had clauses written into the contracts that allowed the club to take significant portions...

Giants ink former Cowboys TE Bennett to deal

The New York Giants signed former Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett to a one-year deal. The pact is worth $2.5 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday. "I think at times you got glimpses, but I was in a limited role," Bennett said of his spending his career as a backup to Jason Witten. "I only played like 30 percent of the snaps while...

TE Martellus Bennett Stays in the NFC East Joins New York Giants.

According to the New York Giants website, TE Martellus Bennett will join the champs as their latest tight end. Bennett is amongst the league’s best athletes at this position and the fit is a good one for a variety of reasons. As a blocker, Bennett can take out linebackers and help RB Ahmad Bradshaw break big plays. In the passing game he can meet or even surpass the numbers...

Texans Cut FB Lawrence Vickers

The Houston Texans have cut fullback Lawrence Vickers, according to a league source. Vickers, who replaced All-Pro fullback Vonta Leach last year when Leach signed with the Baltimore Ravens, was due a $1 million base salary next season. He played in 14 games last season for the Texans, blocking for Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster. Vickers, 28, is a former Cleveland Browns starter...

Cowboys Add Orton and Bernadeau for Depth

The Cowboys have added QB Kyle Orton and OG Mackenzy Bernadeau as their latest free agent acquisitions. Orton was an absolute need, and will provide solid backup play for Romo. Bernadeau, in my opinion, was brought in to add depth and create competition. I don’t see see Bernadeau as being the guy we had to have to jump in and start at guard. Injuries were a big hinderance for the...

Cowboys, S Pool agree to terms on one-year deal

The Dallas Cowboys and free agent safety Brodney Pool agreed to terms on a one-year deal Thursday. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Pool recorded 36 tackles and an interception last season for the New York Jets. He played two campaigns with New York after five seasons with the Cleveland Browns. With Cleveland, Pool played with now-Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Cowboys, Free Agent CB Brandon Carr Working Toward Deal

The Cowboys are in the market for a cornerback after releasing Terence Newman, and have their sights set on former Chiefs CB Brandon Carr. The Cowboys and Carr are working toward a deal with a big number, which might end up at more than $7 million per season, according to league sources. Carr is a clear upgrade over Newman. He’s not a particularly fast cornerback, but will fit in...

Texans will not be adding Peyton Manning

By Anthony Caruso III The Capital Sports Report Owner/Managing Editor/Sr. Writer Peyton Manning will not be joining the Houston Texans. The Texans were interested in Manning, even before he became a free agent last week. The Texans are pleased with starting quarterback Matt Schaub. There were two reports on Monday that said the Texans would pursue Manning. The Texans are to be...

Raiders To Host Texans Free Agent OG Mike Brisiel

On the heels of releasing veteran right guard Cooper Carlisle on Wednesday, the Raiders lined up a visit with free agent Mike Brisiel. Brisiel, who turned 29 today, has spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Texans. He started 47 games the past five seasons, including 13 last season. It’s possible that the Raiders will bring back Carlisle at some point, just at a cheaper salary...

Cowboys, QB Kyle Orton Agree To Terms On A 3-Year Contract

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with free agent quarterback Kyle Orton, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Financial terms were not disclosed. Orton split 2011 between the Denver Broncos, who had acquired him from the Chicago Bears as part of the Jay Cutler trade, and the Kansas City Chiefs, who claimed him off waivers from the Broncos when they went...

Credit the Bills for being aggressive when it came to signing Mario Williams

Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams (90) tries to get around San Diego Chargers tight end Randy McMichael (81) in the first half at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on November 7, 2010. The Chargers defeated the Texans 29-23. UPI/Aaron M. Sprecher When I asked one former NFL VP of Player Personnel about whether or not he thought Mario Williams would wind up in Buffalo...
