IRVING, Texas A dozen different cogs are in motion as the Dallas Cowboys are making cap space in order to add potential defensive starters Justin Durant and Will Allen to the roster.
Sources tell FOXSportsSouthwest.com that the club has restructured the contract of backup quarterback Kyle Orton and is considering a release of backup receiver Anthony Armstrong in order to free up space to finalize agreed-to deals with Durant and Allen.
The Durant deal is now complete. The Allen deal will be shortly.
Both players visited Valley Ranch on Monday. Durant, 27, has been a full-time starter in Detroit and will be penciled in as Dallas' strong-side linebacker. Allen, 30, has been a part-time starter in his career as a safety and also excelled at special teams when he played in Tampa under assistant coaches Monte Kiffin and Rich Bisaccia, both of whom are now Cowboys coaches.
